Outstanding experience for our first year. Teachers and many parents are engaged and committed. The school has exceeded expectations.

My daughter and son attend Federal Hill Preparatory School. At first I was skeptical, the 'private school' way of life is very entrenched in Baltimore and it is hard to not worry that you are putting your children at risk by trying a neighborhood school. The end result - my children are thriving. They are learning so much, and are happy to boot. The Advanced Academic Program is challenging, but my daughter enjoys math and seems to take it in stride.

Federal Hill Prep is the quality of any private school in the area. They have exceptional teachers, facilities and dedicated parent volunteers. My first grader uses the new mac computer lab and the science lab weekly. They have fine arts, music, and gym. There is a gifted and talented program and afterschool chess club. The Core Knowledge curriculum has my 6 year old learning thing I didn't learn until my second year of college (ancient mesopatamia?!?!). I cannnot recommend this school highly enough.

The Advanced Academics Program is outstanding! The PTO is very involved and is a great asset to the school.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Maryland used the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and grades 5 and 8 in science. The MSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maryland.
