My daughter attended this school for kindergarten in 2004/2005. She had an excellent teacher and the school has an excellent staff. My issue with the school is the students. I removed her from the school for 2005/2006 school year because I did not want her to deal with fighting and being cussed out like I have seen and heard so many times when I picked her up in the afternoon. I do not like the fact that ther is no physical education and a serious lack of cultural diversity.

The teachers don't care about the students. My Daugher is gratuating from kindergarden this year and will be no longer attending this school. The school is clean, but the school does not offer after school activities. I do not recoment this school

My son and daughter attended the school. I loved the administrative staff. Its a mixed-bag result from this school. My daughter thrived at this school. She had experienced teachers. My son had teachers that were fresh from college with little to no experience or teachers near retirement that could care less. After leaving this school he went on to be an A student. I volunteered and donated my service, but found very few other parents did the same. The school has a large population of apathtic parents with poorly trained children. I moved my children out 3 years ago mid-semester. The test scores are low. This is not the schools fault, but a symptom of the parents and community.

In my personal experience with Gardenville Elementary School, it is a good school. My son started kindergarten their and finished fifth grade their. The teachers are all excellent, even though my son and myself have favorite teachers at the school. My son's time at the that school was a pleasent and educational experience. I would volunteer quite frequently just to help out my child and the school. And the staff was always grateful for parent involvement.

This is my zone school. I currently have 2nd grader attending. Many of the teacher are very qualified; however, they are overburdened with disciplinary problems. More time seems to be spent on disciplining children than on teaching. I am in the process of removing my child from the school because I don't believe that the climate is condusive to learning. Parent involvement is not what it should be and the school is overcrowded. Not much emphasis is placed on the Arts or physical education. The school is almost all African-American and is not a good representation of American society. My child will be going to private school this year.

My son came to this school from out of state. He had a few behavioral problems in his old school but he made a complete turn around while attending this school. The staff was excellent to work with at the school. Unfortunately, the city doesn't provide enough money to the school system to make any positive changes in appearance, etc. For a school in the city system, I think it is a great school!

This is my home school and my children did go there for 3 years and I would never go back. I pay for school and I homeschool. One of the worst the city has to offer.

BASIC

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
