Poor school, poor staff - minus a few exceptional teachers. Both of my children attended Gwynn Falls Elementary, however in the past 2-3 years the quality of the staff and teachers has diminished. From the rude secretary this current year to the baby Principal, who is trying his best to keep up. The school has lost control and organization. Desperatle needs help!

The current principal is the driving force behind the strong staff members leaving. My children have been there for years and while I would like to see them graduate from what used to be a fantastic school, I have to find better. He hired a couple of new teachers who have left the job of educating their class to their colleagues. Who does this? I don't know what is going to come of this school but my children won't be there to see it and thank goodness for the few good teachers that are left. I hope they find the strength to stay.

I attended Gwynns Falls elementary over 30 years ago and they have always been a leader in academics and parent/teacher involvement. This is one of the best schools in the city and surrounding counties. My children excelled while at this school.

As a new parent to Gwynns Falls, I have been impressed by the helpfulness of the school staff, the level of homework and the recognition of "Grandparents Day" so far my experience has been "fantastic"!

I am a proud parent of a child that attend The Fantastic Gwynns Falls Elementary School!! I am a active parent in the school. So everyday I get to see first hand how things are going. From what I see I think that they are doing a very good job with the children, and for the children. they do thier best to try and make sure the day go smooth. They have a new principal that is doing his best for the school, and most of all the children. Am so glad that my child attends this school!!!!!! And I look forward to the school getting even better, in all they are doing.

think gwynns fall is a excellent school for my daugther any other kids. they have the most caring and loven staff. my daugther started at school last year. she was in pre-k now she are in k. she has learn alot since she been there. she love her old teacher Ms Fulton. She alway treat her student with repsect and she teaches them very well. This school to me act, think and work like a private plus academy school. I think that if any parents wants their child or children to learn be in a safe enviroment this is the school for them. but there is alot more impovement about this school.

The FANTASTIC Gwynns Falls is a great school and I would highly recommend it to those who are looking for a quality education for their children. Great administration, dedicated teachers, and strong parent participation are only a FEW of the great things this school has to offer. This school is an example of how all our city's public schools should look.

This is my childs third year at this school and at first i was very much satisfied but now i have my doubts. Is this a school that really cares about its students or are the numbers more important? Thanks to 'No Child Left Behind', my child is making progress but i have to ask myself if it will be enough ?

My son is a fifth grader at Gwynns Falls Elem. I transferred my son into the school last school from a state school were he was going no where. I was so afraid to change schools. I made my decision and it was the best decision thus far. I held him back because i knew he wasnt ready to go on and with the help of the 4th grade team ( Phillips, Wiliams, Lockes) who i might add are awesome my son MSA scores excelled and he has now been asked to participate in Johns Hopkins program for the talented and gifted youth. This school is wonderful, the staff are warm, and the principal and vice principal truly care about the students and they are not afraid to protect their school. Thank you Gwynn falls

My son started Gwynns Falls last year 2nd quarter and had a rough start. Mrs. Johnson (principal) worked with him and never gave up even when he just wouldn't listen and had to spend some time in her office. This year my son is in Mrs. Lorenz 3rd grade class and I couldn't believe how much Mrs. Lorenz cares. My son is trying to lose or maintain his weight, every Wednesday my son goes to school and tells Mrs. Lorenz about his weight lost. Mrs. Lorenz is always excited and encourages him to continue the good work. Mrs. Lorenz even said something about joining him in his weight lost. : ) Mrs. Lorenz has even asked about which foods he can have and which ones to stay away from ( candy, cookies etc.), so when she gives out treats he will still have something. I am just impressed at how caring Mrs. Lorenz and Mrs. Johnson are. They always make time for you and always try their best to help. I am so thankful for both of them. I believe Gwynns Falls Elementary is one of Baltimore best schools. Due to the excellent teachers and other staff my son is having a great year. Also Mrs. Johnson is very observant she notice that this year my son was wearing glasses and she always complements him on how nice and smart he looks : ) I feel this makes him feel good and want to do better.

I am proud to say that I am a graduate of this school I graduated Gwynns Falls in 1994. I am now 25 yrs old. I am honored to have this school still standing so that my daughter could attend. She is now going to the kindergarten. She graduated from Pre-k in June of 2008 from Mrs. Taylor/Ms. Queens class and she loved it. I never seen a 5 year old so happy to attend school. Its the summertime and she can't wait to go back. I volunteer occasionally and as the other parents say the staff is great they treat the kids as if they were their own. They have one on one care with the students and they give respect and receive it back it is truly a family in Gwynns Falls. Rachael Smith, parent and former student

My granddaughter has attended Gwynns Falls since he was in K. Her will be attending the 2nd grade this fall. Her first teacher was Ms. Moon and her 1st grade teacher was Ms. Holloway. Both teachers were exceptional in helping my granddaughter increase her reading. She struggled in K but soared in 1st grade. Gwynns Falls is more like a private academy and the staff is great.

I am the parent of a first grader in Ms. Catlett class and my son attended from 3-5.This is my daughter's second year in the first grade. I love the school because they were able to help our family learn of her struggle in school. One word to describe Gywnns Falls for me is FAMILY! The school environment is warm and loving. They take the time to know the whole child and their families. The principal makes it her business to know each and every child. Kids are not belittled in this school they are praised when needed and listened too when they are having a little trouble and are offered advice on how to deal with whatever trouble they are having. If you are looking for a school that has your child's best interest at heart, safe environment then you would want this school on your team.

My son is a fifth grader at this school. He has attended since 2nd grade. He is also hearing impaired. My husband and myself were really impressed with the quiet hallways and the instruction going on in the classrooms. You could hear a pin drop. This is due to the leadership and learning incentives at this school. My son has been on the honor roll since day one. He has grown mentally, socially, and of course physically since his attending Gywnn falls. It has been a great experience for our whole family. I would recommend this school to any child that has strong parent involvement, because after all this is what every child and school needs!
