I would not work at a school that was not organized and professional, I take issue with reviews that suggest such a condition exists. The school employs highly qualified certified teachers, who care deeply about the students. The administration is sensitive to both staff and students and is in constant touch with school needs and its own professional development. The students who don't feel challenged, are not taking advantage of the many extra curricular opportunities available to them.

The Lab School has a great arts program and for kids that are struggling it can be a great place. However many students there, like myself, only needed a little help in certain areas. The curriculum tended to cater to the kids who were having the most trouble learning in a normal school setting which caused students like myself to be held back from moving forward. The school's management is quite disorganized and was not helpful when my parents wanted to secure State Financial Aid. Dealing with administration was very difficult honestly on a host of separate issues as well.

Wonderful teachers. I work for an outside company so I can say that as a professional and without bias. No school is perfect, and naturally there will be problems here and there, but overall it's a fabulous place. The faculty is what makes the school and almost every single one I've encountered has been so passionate about their work. The teachers are so creative and know how to engage their students. The specialists are really impressive- some of the best I've seen in the field. Having come from another unnamed public school classroom in which the days felt 12 hours long and I often wondered why some of those teachers chose their their profession, the Lab School is such a breath of fresh air.

My son tried so hard in the public school and Charter schools only to fail. He had such low esteem. My child only had thoughts of giving up on his education as soon as he possibly could. The Lab school made all the difference in a child that only had thoughts of quitting school become a confident young man When all our hopes were almost gone, the Lab school gave my son everything he needed. We found out he loves art , school and friends. He even became a peer leader for the younger children. He has become a successful, witty and confident young man. He now accepts that he just could not learn the same way as most other children. The Lab school did this for him. During the last year, my son has only thoughts about college. He plans to pursue a degree in Education of all things. He wants to give other children struggling the hope that he always needed. I am without a doubt grateful to the Baltimore Lab School and the proudest mother ever!

Strong arts program in lower school. Very accepting and tolerant staff, especially with highly disruptive ADHD students. Unfortunately the school is very disorganized which makes it very hard to help students who struggle with the same problem. Constantly changing administrators, little accountability on any level.

The Baltimore Lab School is an amazing place for children to learn!!! Children with learning differences are exposed to a variety of teaching strategies in order for them to succeed. The staff is truly outstanding and creative. My son would love it if all children could go to a school like LAB!

Baltimore Lab changed my son's life. He was behind several grade levels in every subject when he started there. He is now at or ahead of grade level in every subject. They teach the whole child, with great results!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
