My son just completed his first year at public school (Pre-K). While the year was a bit of a review for him, the teachers and staff did a lot to keep him encouraged and learning new things. Today is his last day of school and he is sad, not because he'll miss his friends but because he's going to miss his teachers. That, to me, speaks volumes about the instruction being given. We're looking forward to Kindergarten at TJEMS.

This school has an outstanding elementary program. The principal has done amazing things to make this school a safe and enriching learning environment. It has one of the only three year old public programs in the state and has high ranking test scores every year. The school is mixed income and race which creates a diverse school for the benefit of all. I am very grateful my kids attend TJ and we look forward to next year! We could use some more parent involvement and a stronger PTO but I think that has been building up and will continue to improve.

My son attends Thomas Johnson, and I have come to your school plenty of times to bring him to school, or to pick him up. As a young father, Im very pleased with the care and concern for my son, who is Autistic. His teachers take notice of my son, and made me aware of things they dont feel comfortable about with my son, and the treatment, or care his mother provides for him, and this only proves to me that the job, the hold is more than a job, its a passion, and they take pride in protecting, as well as educating these lil angels that we put in their hads everyday. Im so greatful to you, and the staff at Thomas Johnson. (Especially Mrs. Smith), thank you sincerely.

My daughter Raina and son-in-law Matt teacheat your school. We have been to several events there and were very impressed with the school itself, the friendliness of the teachers, the very well planned events and the great behavior of the children.

Thomas Johnson is a great school which is now expanding to include the middle school years of grades 6 & 7 with grade 8 added in SY 2009-10. James Dendinger is the new principal (7/1/08). Parent support is excellent. Faculty is dedicated and very involved. Model Instructional Consultation program to assist students & teachers be successful. 'IC' was developed by the Un. of Maryland. TJ has a long history of excellent, outstanding principals. Consistently in the top ten of BCPS.

I just want to say that this school has active, wonderful, and motivated teachers. When I visit or volunteer, the students are participating and the teachers have planned engaging activities. The school treats the students as individuals and helps students at all levels.

Hopefully the new principal will make a difference here. The entire student body needs a lesson in bullying and in self-control.

I pulled my child immediately out of this school. The children were out of control, vulgar, and rude. The teachers were either looking the other way, or bullying the kids themselves. Pathetic.

This is a wonderful school. The staff are happy and love coming to school everyday. The only draw back is that the school is in need of a rehab badly. There are open classrooms and the carpets are thread barren. The principal is wonderful. He listens to parents, students and his staff.

The school lacks diversity in administration, staff, student body, and instruction. Black history, Hispanic history, Asian history or any other cultures history's are minimally recognized and/or celebrated considering the fact that there are a few students that represent those categories. However, Halloween, Christmas, NOT HANUKKAH, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, 100th Day of School etc., are heavily recognized. The level of parent involvement is wonderful. The parents also respect the staff and administration; they trust and allow them to do their jobs and help in anyway that they can. The availabilty of resources/specials is of the highest quality. The school does well at providing extracurricular activities for the students of all grade levels. For parents: The over morale of the school seems to be high and the students and parents appear happy. For employees: It could be a pleasnt place to work depending on who you are.
