This is one of the greatest schools to send your kids to. It makes a difference, am telling you.
Western is a great school. It is truly a college prep school. After I graduate from Western High School in 2006 and went onto college, I was way ahead of my fellow colleagues academically and even socially. Western also teaches young ladies to be ready for success!!!! I would recommend this school to all young ladies who want to be the best!

I am a grand parent of a student at western. The vigorous curriculum is actually motivational and ensures hard work. Western is becoming a family tradition, I am a 1970 grad and my sister is a 1967 grad. The school prepares students for success.

Western High School was founded in 1844. There is a reason, actually lots of reasons, it has lasted so long. The faculty and administration actually care about the students. A great school all around.

Hello! I graduated from Western Senior High and it was one of the best experiences I have had to date. Because of the all-girls environment, I was able to expresss myself freely and not have to conform to try to fit in. I would highly recommend this school to any young lady who doesn't want to attend high school and get lost in the crowd, but wants to stand out. Excellent choice!

Hello: I attended Western Senior High. I am a graduate of the class of 2003. This school is awesome! The curriculum is far better than all other city schools! More over, it's an all-girls school. The environment is one that is filled with empowerment. We are taught to work smart and there is a thing about Western girls that I do not think is a coincidence...they all succeed beyond expectations! Great School Monica:)

Western is an exceptional school bar none, my daughter is a 2008 graduate of Western, and she is currently a freshman at Spelman College in Atlanta. All of the courses she took at Western prepared her very well for the rigorous courses she had to take at Western. All of the schools in Baltimore should take a lesson from Western. Western has 100% college acceptance for the last 5 years. Ever year they make AYP (Annual Yearly Progress) Its very rare that a student would leave Western because the curriculum was not challenging enough. The large majorities leave because the curriculum was too challenging. I was a member of the School Improvement team and was president of the PTA for three years. Hats of to Western, keep up the good work.

I'm a Freshman attending Western at the time, and I'm very pleased to say that Western is one of the best all female schools in the country. Western has great leadership, as well as wonderfull extracurricular activities such as the fashionettes, Student Government, and Sisters For Black Awareness. I've only been at this school for 3 months, and I already strongly believe that no other school in Baltimore can top Western.

My daughter is a graduate of Western High School. She recieved a full Athletic Scholarship to the College of her choice due to Western's great Track and Field program. She also recieved an Academic scholarship. I believe strongly in their program and plan to send my second daughter to Western. I am a teacher and I encourage any parent to send their child to Western High School.

I am an alumni of Western and it is the parents respnsibilty to administer certain freedom and to see that the child is at an institution that will benefit your childs goals. Last year a female from Western was accepted to all 8 Ivy League colleges in the US and recieved scholarships to them all.First female to do so in history.Western is the best school in the city for young ladies to attend. The oldest all-girl public school in the US.Some colleges look at an application just because its a Western student applying. Since graduation i am a 20 year old junior at Villa Julie College, I am spokesperson for the Mayors Office of Employment Development and work at Social Securty Administration. So Western taught me to do what I want in a career and i can do more than just one thing at a time. I can Do EVERYTHING!

Being a student that currently attends Western, I find it very challenging and a school that definitely gears you for the future. At Western, you don't have to worry about your child being distracted by boys or other unnecessary things. Our school is based upon sisterhood and although you may not get along with everyone, I find that the experience you receive here is great and you will make life long friends. Western does indeed shape you into a young lady with the principle in mind of quiet dignity and has forever been known as housing fine young ladies that ultimately shape the future. We are all diverse and unique and you can see this in the halls of Western. Of course, all schools have there small problems, no ones perfect, but I truly love my school and couldn't see myself at any other school.

Western is a fine school but I agree with the previous person. The students don't have enough freedom. I decided to transfer to Dunbar High School for the rest of my high school years [1 year left]. I was not satisfied since the 9th grade. The education wasn't as rigorous as I expected. I am the type of girl that likes a challenge, and at Western that challenge I longed for was not being fullfilled.

Western is an excellent school for young ladies. Western teaches girls dignity, empowerment, and how to bound with other young ladies. The school setting is peaceful and the teachers inspire students to be what they want to be.
