Colgate is a great school. The adminstration is incredible. Mr. Connelly, the principal, really cares about the students and their well-being and success in education. The teachers & staff are wonderful and highly qualified. They are there to help the children. My son has attended Colgate from Pre-K to 5. I have no complaints. Every teacher has challenged him academically. The school population is quite small and I personally prefer a smaller school. The children are great too! There is zero tolerance for bullying or anything of that negative nature. The PTA is very involved with the children. But, it seems like there is only 3 key parents who run the PTA and I wish more would become involved with the PTA. When there are children concerts, events, etc. the parents do attend! Colgate to me ranks right up there with any school in Maryland. If you live in the area and your child is zoned to go here, don't worry. It's a GREAT school!

My son has been going to Colgate for 7 year starting with Pre-K and now in 5th Grade. Teacher keep parents up to date and alway available to help. They need more parent involvement. But with society needing two parent to work and the community help and the neighborhood is ok. The teacher and staff are great and proud to be a part of it for so long.

I feel that this school has some of the brightest teachers in this area and am thankful that my children have a chance to learn from them.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Maryland used the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and grades 5 and 8 in science. The MSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maryland.
