Both of my daughters go to Hawthorne. This is a great school. The Principal is wonderful and she really cares about the children. The administration really goes above and beyond their duties. The teachers really do a great job teaching the children. The office staff will help you anyway they can. The atmosphere around the school is fantastic.

Hawthorne Elementay School has a close family atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parent involvement is encouraged and appreciated. It has an active and supportive PTA. Technology is being used throughout the school. Math Munch,a math skill increasing program operating during lunch time and over seen by parent volunteers, this year kicked off with fasttmath on portable computers. Hawthorne is working hard to meet MSA requirements. There are also before and after school programs like Tech club and homwork club just to name two. Hawthorne has meetings and workshops for parents on different topics. There is also a school improvement team that will listen to concerns and suggestions.

This is my childs first year of school and reading these reviews. I dont think that im making the right choice. I have meant with some of the staff and hope that as nice as they are responsible. Im a really involved parent that has done all that i can to teach my child while at home these past years right from wrong and i hope to have that same kind of values done in the school.

My experience with this school has been awful! I have 2 kids that currently attend Hawthorne Elementary and are both being bullied. One of them has a VERY SERIOUS case of it going on right now! The school has done what they consider to be everything that is in their power to fix the problem to no avail. What I feel is that they are not equipped to handle this sort of situation! It has gotten sooooo bad, that I have decided to Homeschool my girls for the remainder of the year so I don't have to EVER send them back to Hawthorne Elementary again. I do agree with the person that made a comment that said that things have gone 'downhill' since this is not the way things used to be a Hawthorne... but as time passes by, things get worst and worst. How unfortunate...

I have had my children in this school for the past 9 years. Some of the teachers have been wonderful. through the years, and staff changes, things have been going downhill. There is a large parent involvement in the school, yet with that comes a lot of drama. Years ago, I enjoyed spending time at as many school functions as possible. At this time, I try to steer clear of the school as much as possible. Safety is the biggest issue. From the over run playgrounds, Middle school kids hanging out, bikes and dogs.. these are safety issues that have repeatedly been brought up, yet have never been handled.

Both of my children have gone to Hawthorne Elementary since they were 5 years old. Hawthorne Elementary is a school where the childrn come first. Each child is encouraged to do their personal best without being labeled as the smart or dumb kids. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring the best in each child. Thank you Mrs. McIntyre for being such such a great example of a leader I'll miss you dearly. I recomend this school.
