The teachers and administration are caring, compassionate, gifted educators who understand that some kids have incredible gifts as well as incredible challenges. They do their best to meet both ends and their focus on social skills and socioemotional growth is unparalleled - I know of no other area school that particularly focuses on the needs of this group of kids.

My son is currently at the Auburn School and he loves it. He's in the lower school/1st grade. We love the small class size and individualized attention he receives. Gone are the days of multiple phone calls from his former public school principal who did not understand an IEP. It's nice to find an academic setting that fully understands and appreciates your unique child. I would strongly recommend this school.

My son started at The Auburn School this year after a rough time in the public school setting. He has thrived so much and has learned so many great skills socially and behaviorally that have absolutely helped him to excel academically. The teachers and staff here are so patient and absolutely go above and beyond! They took the time to actually get to know my son and what his interests are. They used this information to develop a plan that would work for him! Each child here is appreciated for their differences and are unique in their own way. The instruction and plans are individualized for each child. My son loves school so much now and hates when school is closed or there is a vacation! There is no better feeling than knowing that your child is happy and feels loved at school! Thanks Thanks Thanks!

The Auburn school is designed for bright children with social and communication challenges (e.g. those on the autism spectrum, ADHD, anxiety, etc). The staff are specialized in dealing with children who are intelligent (even genius) but have some challenges (either behavioral or learning). It is a warm and nurturing environment with state of the art learning and an evidence based behavioral component. There is NO other school like this one. Their social thinking curriculum, for example, teaches kids how to better understand themselves and others and has a strong anti bullying component built into it (This curriculum should be used everywhere IMO). The extracurricula activities are excellent and are appropriate even for a child who is easily overwhelmed. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that my child would joyfully participate in acting, singing, kung fu, meditation, flute, etc. The school strives to connect the community to the student body (and visa versa). They have career days (a scientist from NASA just came to visit for example), glove and sock donations for the homless, food drives, etc.
