My opinion is that Pikesville is great! You can pay a million bucks for your child to go to school and I bet ther will still be a few clowns attending. The staff at Pikesville keep you updated on everything thats going on with your child, activities, the school in general- whether it's positive or negative. For a single working mom like myself the communication with the teachers and guidance office makes a BIG difference. Also, Edline is the best at keeping track of your child's work. And from what I hear from other parents of children at surrounding schools Pikesville is at the top with the best. You have to give 5 stars for this school especially when you're not paying for your child to attend.
hey I'm a 7th grader at pikesville and I think it fun. Other then the kids behavior. But we are ok students our classes are easy. Shhh don't tell our teachers haha.Pikesville an ok school. We have alot of fun things like all county and gtt. Gate way to technology is fun we made different circuits and got to use different equitment. Beware of some tachers like Mr. Permenter he has perfect seeing he sees almost evey thing but on to top of all that I'm loving this school for my second year can't wait til my third in 8th that's when all the action goes down
i think pikesville is a great school im in 6th grade and i love all my teachers espicially mrs. lewis for language arts you are so lucky if you get her ms. yadush i also the best music teacher ever she is so funny and i love her i give props to ms. fraizer as long as you r on her good side she is the best
My daughter is in the sixth grade and she loves it. She came from privet school and ajusted very well.
I'm going into 7th grade at PMS. Right now, I'm so excited to come back to school for the first time! Every teacher taught in such unique and fun way. There are some flaws, but overall, PMS is a fantastic school!
The teachers and administration here are very good. In general, they try their best to teach the kids and want them to succeed. However, the school is being pulled down by the kids who don't care and show no respect to the teachers and school property, and some of the parents who don't care. Even some of the GT students become disrespectful over time and make it harder for the ones who care to learn, and frustrate the teachers. That is the problem.
I like the school. They make it extremely fun but really educational they pop in jokes about the topic we are learning that really keeps us laughing and learning in the same time. The best teacher is Mrs.Nathanson because she really strict and she explains the steos on how to do the math problems very well and she is always willing to help others.
I found PMS is better than what I was told. My only complaint is: some teachers that don't correct exercises on the board so those students that didn't get it are bound to continue not getting it. The whole exercise of coming here is to applaud and give credit to Ms. Hodgkinson who I find to be a great, inspirational music teacher. Her dedication is such I don't dare to miss any of her concerts. The mixing of extra coaching and lunch is not a good idea. The children need their food and their break. The food in the cafeteria is not vegetarian friendly. The extracurricular activity program for gymnastics is disappointing. In general, I am happy with the school, the teachers, the nurse, the Principal-thank you for your calls-and everybody else in the Administrative Office. Let's get that keyboard badly needed for the Music Room and a mic.
The G&T classes at Pikeville are excellent and are taught by the most understanding and intelligent teachers in the school. Mia Talarigo is an exceptional principal and encourages students to participate in the many after-school activities that the students can choose from. One activity that has always impressed me is the school play. Mr.Permenter has always been a fabulous director who has a wonderful musical and instructional background. This year he is assisted by a new director whose teaching methods I am unimpressed with. I hope this year's school play will be just as good as last year's. I was stunned by the talent and hope that Pikesville Middle will continue its outstanding work in its artistic departments, including art, chorus, orchestra, and band, as well as in its academic programs.
The GT classes are excellent. A very thorough and rigorous curriculum. Very caring and concerned teachers. A very strong principal.
My son is a GT student at PMS. I think the teachers are great. I believe they really do care about there students. However, parents need to continue to stay involved with there kids progress, for example, have teacher conferences, pop-up at the school sometimes, look in there notebooks, you would be amazed at what your child doesn't share with you.
I'm in the 7th grade at PMS and well I love it i agree with the fact that there are some people who don't do their own work and end up repeating (i have 5 friends who should be in the 8th grade)But the teachers take action when this happens i reamember in the beginning of the year my grades were pretty low but Ms. Larson and Ms. Nathanson was able to help me. Everything about the school is great exept for some bad teachers. Other than tht everything about the school is perfect.
Pikesville used to be a great school. There are still wonderful teachers, but there are far too many children whose parents don't care how they do, and the Administration is either unable of taking real disciplinary actions when necessary.
I just graduated as an exemplar student (haha) from PMS this year and I loved it. It was the best experience I have had yet. The teachers are awesome (You're lucky if you get Paules in the 7th grade. You're also lucky if you get Doran, Rosenblatt, St.Clair, Bachtel, Hodgkinson, Lavalee, in the 8th grade) These teachers are so involved, and so willing to share their knowledge and provide to embark on a never-ending trail of intellect. Go Swiron, the principal is ultra-cool. The Drama Club is awesome, the music department is, wow. Ms.Hodgkinson is the best music teacher there is. Lunch is cool! Lots of action, all the time. I promise you, Pikesville Middle School will provide your child with an experience they will never forget. You will seriously cry on the last day (experienced!)
I went to Pikesville for all three years of my Middle School life, and am now a senior at Towson. I'd like to say that Pikesville gives you many opportunities to learn, and set out a successful beginning path in life. It is up to the student to go out and get it, however. Mrs. Frazier has got to be one of the best assistant principals out there. She sets people in their place. Though sometimes it seems a little harsh, it's the best thing to go through. Education-wise, pikesville middle is the way to go!
I think that PMS is an overally good school. Besides the fact that there are a lot of bad kids in his special classes (he's in GT for everything else), he gets along just fine. I think that it is great that the school is so jewish, so there is less anti semitism for him. I would like to say that Mr. Jira is excellent.
My child came to PMS from a private school. I have been so impressed and pleased with the quality of the faculty and guidance staff. Everyone has been so helpful and welcoming. It is absolutely an excellent school and she is getting an excellent education.
I am the parent of a recent graduate of PMS and another who is in 7th grade. Though both children have very different learning styles and needs, the faculty have addressed their needs remarkedly well. Both children have been in classes that are challenging and have been surrounded by supportive teachers, guidance staff and administrators. The only negative statement I can suggest about PMS is the rigidity during lunch for the students.
This is my daughter's 2nd year here. I think it's a good school. The teachers are concerned about the children's well-being. They take an interest in actually making sure the children understand what is being taught. If they feel a child needs more help they are willing to go that extra mile.
