Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I'm a student at Stricker, and I guess it's good. Some of the teachers are bad, but otherwise they are nice. I do really good there behavior and grade-wise, because I don't want to mess with those teachers! I really like gym class, even though it can be boring and tough at times.

I think GJSMS is a terrific school and here the staff actually care about your needs! Which is very rare to get from most schools. The teachers are extrordinary i love all the clubs, programs, and events at GJSMS. Iespecially love the GT circullam they offer i am a member of their Student council(Generals council) which is a very fun but unique expierience and Quiz bowl which is a very fun extra cirricullar activity in where you compete with different scools with current funfilled questions! Over all GJSMS is one of the best Middle schools to go to and parents if you live around this area i strongly reccomend you send your child to General John Stricker Middle School!

I am getting ready to pull my son for homeschooling the teachers are not very helpful when it comes time for homework or classwork problems he recently has been out on home n hospital for an ongoing illness and we have tried numerous times to get his grades for 2nd quarter straight the tutor has tried to email the councilor and she still has not replied with an answer my son is very smart and willing to learn but the teachers or not willing to help the school has not changed i also have to older children that attended stricker in the late 80s and 90s the only thing that has changed is the principal and a few teachers they still treat the children the same to them its only a job

My daughter entered the 6th grade this year and I have to admit I was terrified of 'Middle School'. She is now ending her 1st academic school year at General John Stricker and we are both pleased. She has been on Honor Roll every quarter, made wonderful friends, and volunteers at the school store during lunch. Her success is attributed to her hard work, teacher dedication, and parent support. Thank you GJSMS, my daughter is very happy. Very simply

I have a very high opinion of this school! My son has had difficulty keeping his grades up because of ADHD and the teachers here have truely been a blessing! They keep me involved and give my child the attention he needs to stay focused. I believe this school to be one of the safest in the area. I have had 2 children attend here and both of them have loved it.

I think General John Stricker is a ok school this is my 3rd child going through school their and I must say that the kids are alot different now with the picking on other kid.And also I have called the school office a number of time and I never got a call back. On the other hand when I sent a note in to my child teacher I always got a call back by the next day.So my advice would be if you have a child going their you really need to keep on top of things.

If I were to rate this, I would not be able to give a good recommendation. My son came to Stricker in the 6th grade with an IEP in place from his last school. None of the computer programs that he needed were in place when he got there. This school is one of the worst schools that my son has ever attended. I am thoroughly disappointed in the education that is given out at this school. My advice to the new students, find another school.

If you want your child to attend school and feel safe, this is not the place to send them. The administration ignores your concerns and treats you as though you are wasting thier time. I have only encountered 1 teacher out of all I have dealt with that actually cares. As a parent, with a college degree in education, I have tried to communicate and get involved to solve the matter, but they treat you as if you are a burden on their day.

My son just started Stricker this year, And it has been one big disappointment,The quality of the teachers is very poor from what I have witness in my own eyes, There is only about a handful who do show they care and go the extra mile for the students, The teachers demand respect but in my opoion you have to give it to recieve it. Stricker also says they want parents involved and great communcation, I have tryed many of times to get involved and to have communcation but what I get in return is and i quote ' they need to grow up and not have there parents fighting battles for them'. hey thats my child and they have the right to feel safe and to feel they are learning, If parents could get involved more maybe stricker would be a good school again.

this school is one of the better middle schools around the Dundalk area. they take in consideration the sixth graders coming and make them real comfortable entering thier school. there is alot of communication between the parents and teachers
