Lets face it. It's middle school. I don't know 1 person or parent that has jumped up and down and said wow I love Middle school. Its a tough age and a huge transition. However 1 thing I can say is Middle River Middle School has a great faculty and staff whom I find helpful when I as a parent has an issue and a great dedication when teaching the students. The principal Mrs. Parker is absolutely great. Very supportive and someone I can tell truly loves what she does. I see her constantly in the halls talking to the students when they change classes and she has supported the PTA in every way possible. Grades have improved, and the kids (despite it being middle school) seem like they do not dread being there. Whatever you heard about Middle River in the past, leave it there. As with anything in life, you need to open your eyes to the changes being made and see the world is not living in the past any more. If you are involved with your kids and play an active role in their school life, then you have done all that you can do to see they are on the right path. Give Middle River a chance, you won't be disappointed.

This school is awful. My child is new to the 8th grade here and she has dealt with many bullies and inconsiderate teachers. The school is not challenging at all. The best I can do is put my child in the GT program which I hope will be challenging. The teachers and staff do not know how handle problems correctly. My child has went to the guidance office several times and she feels like a burden to them. My daughter is strong girl doesn't pay the bullies any mind. When teachers start holding the whole class back for one idiot who can't control themselves, That's where my problem starts. If you want your child to just "pass by" in school this is the place for you. Mediocre is the motto of this school. Since when does honor roll include C's? If you want kids to do better, Make getting Honor roll something that requires a little effort! I'll be moving in June for my kids sake's.

This school has a lot of drama , i mean TONS of it . i am graduating in abt 2 months & i been going here since the 6th grade . the education here is good but some of the teachers here act horrible towards the students however there are some nice teachers tht would love to help ! but other than tht , i would think to send your child somewhere else . *

This school is out of control. For the students and parents that worked so hard with their children to instill good morals, disipline and proper behavior, what a Disappointment!! For our 6th graders. The children that were sent to Middle River from Oliver Beach Elementary have never had to deal with such lack of structure. I am afraid that these GT kids will be lost to this type of out of control atmosphere. These students spend most of their day trying to avoid physical attack in the hallways or giving answers to those cheating students who threaten attack instead of being allowed to focus on their own challenges of learning, if learning some new material is available at all. So what are the parents and students that want a good education and cannot afford private schools suppose to do?

I continue to be disappointed with the school. Although, I've heard that the administration has been doing things for school improvement, there is such a lack of school pride - it seems like the administration is spinning their wheels. The PTO is relatively non existant and the current PTO people do nothing to illicit parental involvement and thus there is little to nothing extra done for the students. In addition, academically I don't think that the teachers are pushing the students to do their best.

I think that the school is making good strides to improve its reputation. The administration seems to be on the ball trying to keep up with the kids. I think improvement could be made in making the children more respectful and listen to substitutes or parents at school. Its important to make them be held to a higher standard. Expect more from them. My daughter is doing okay in school (first year) and the only thing I was very disappointed about was that I asked a teacher to encourage her to participate more in extra curricular activites but the teacher did not bother to help her. Academically, things look good and comparable to other schools in the area.

I find that the school does not handle conflict as needed. The staff can at times be very laid back and the students miss challenging opportunities!

I've attended Middle River Middle School since 6th grade. I love it here. Some of the teachers are nice and some of them are strict. I think this is a good school. Some of the kids make the school seem bad,but it really isn't. This is my opinion about Middle River Middle School.

My son has been in this school since the sixth grade. In the beginning it was rough and I felt that the teacher didn't really care. This is his last year and so far I am please with all of the educators and the new principal. The school is what you make it and what your child does with the education provided.

As a former student of Middle River, I have a positive rating over all. However, I was in the GT program and wasn't exposed to the standard curriculum. The principal and assistant principal were always available for help. The after-school activities were abound. 8th grade remains my favorite time of all years, and I am currently a high school senior. My little brother goes to MRMS now and he is in the standard courses. He, however, is not doing so well, but I believe that is his own fault. One thing I have noticed that I really like is the fact that some teachers now e-mail the homework to parents. Over all, Middle River provides a great learning experience if you are willing to grab a hold of it.

i am currently going to middle river and i hate it there. they barely settle problems and always let bad problem people back. i consider no one to go there. I am changing schools due to the failure to let children to have a safe enviroment.

My daughter is currently enrolled in Middle River Middle School, and she is very happy there! She is doing very well. The Principal & Assistant Principals are working very hard to have continued success there, and their efforts are continuing to pay off.

I have a son that went to Middle River from 2000 thru 2003 and a daughter currently in 7th grade there. Both my children have received excellant educations there. The staff is cares deeply about the students and in turn the students have great respect for the teachers and staff.
