i think like any school, middle river middle is what each child makes of it. if you are a good parent who is involved in the school and ask questions, join the PTA and is aware not only what goes on in the classroom but throughout the entire school, you will find middle river to be a good school. Be involved, thats what is most important.

This school is out of control. For the students and parents that worked so hard with their children to instill good morals, disipline and proper behavior, what a Disappointment!! For our 6th graders. The children that were sent to Middle River from Oliver Beach Elementary have never had to deal with such lack of structure. I am afraid that these GT kids will be lost to this type of out of control atmosphere. These students spend most of their day trying to avoid physical attack in the hallways or giving answers to those cheating students who threaten attack instead of being allowed to focus on their own challenges of learning, if learning some new material is available at all. So what are the parents and students that want a good education and cannot afford private schools suppose to do?

I continue to be disappointed with the school. Although, I've heard that the administration has been doing things for school improvement, there is such a lack of school pride - it seems like the administration is spinning their wheels. The PTO is relatively non existant and the current PTO people do nothing to illicit parental involvement and thus there is little to nothing extra done for the students. In addition, academically I don't think that the teachers are pushing the students to do their best.

I think that the school is making good strides to improve its reputation. The administration seems to be on the ball trying to keep up with the kids. I think improvement could be made in making the children more respectful and listen to substitutes or parents at school. Its important to make them be held to a higher standard. Expect more from them. My daughter is doing okay in school (first year) and the only thing I was very disappointed about was that I asked a teacher to encourage her to participate more in extra curricular activites but the teacher did not bother to help her. Academically, things look good and comparable to other schools in the area.

I find that the school does not handle conflict as needed. The staff can at times be very laid back and the students miss challenging opportunities!

I've attended Middle River Middle School since 6th grade. I love it here. Some of the teachers are nice and some of them are strict. I think this is a good school. Some of the kids make the school seem bad,but it really isn't. This is my opinion about Middle River Middle School.
