Horrible school. I honestly have no doubt in my mind that the positive reviews are from teachers themselves below. If you are not wealthy, and you do not donate thousands of dollars to the school, you will not be liked. If you are not friends with famous or rich people, you will not be liked. If your child does not have perfect grades, you and your child will be hated on by the teachers and staff. This school has so much drama even the parents of the children are fighting. It is absolutly riduculous. I am so glad I left this disgusting and selfish enviornment. Once I left this school and went on to high school, I really realized how much of a joke it was. However, I will not take away the fact that it has a good education. This school has so many rules and they contradict themselves so much. I would even go out on a limb and say that this school is comparable to a military school.

my granddaughter has been at HDS since kindergarten and my only regret is that she did not start in pre-k. The atmosphere is warm, the teachers are caring and loving and the education is superior. She is challenged, encouraged to do well, and supported when having difficulty. She has no problem with asking for additional help when having difficulty with a subject. Teachers are very available. She is now in fifth grade and we look forward to this year and the coming years. We are a typical middle class family facing the same financial challenges as other one parent families and the financial office has been very helpful to us. My daughter and I could not be more satisfied with the complete educational experience for my granddaughter.

I write this from the view point of a minority family. My wife and I have our son there currently. We both have advanced degrees in our fields of employment. So far all is well with the school and the teachers. Everyone seems to be friendly and committed to all the students. The school is a bit expensive, however it is worth every penny. Their are numerous terms to make payments and they are willing to work with you. My only issue with HDS is that they do not warm up food for the younger children. Also, their is a review dated August 2011 that concerns my wife and I. We will repost when our son reaches that level for any futher minority students. One more thing, the posting dated July 2011 states that HDS is diverse, that is not true. Most reviews of HDS state that the school has 9% minority representation, I have not seen this and HDS is in need of minority teachers. A MINORITY VIEW OF HDS.

I am writing this school review because the last review was not at all accurate and probably represented an individual problem. HDS is a wonderful, healthy educational environment for all grade levels. A diverse, refreshing student body is complemented by a professional, caring and energetic team of teachers. Great leadership, great people and great environment makes HDS a superb alternative to public education in Harford County. We made the decision for HDS in K-5 and have viewed it as an outstanding value for our child and a nice community of people to be associated with. A superb educational experience without the worries of public school curricula, re-districting, and teachers unions.

This is an excellent school! It is our first year here(6th grade) and both faculty and students have been wonderful to our son. Middle School is challenging both socially and academically, but with the support of the HDS community, our child is thriving there. Only regret is that we didn't transfer there sooner.

This school has amazing education, but the cruelest, most cliquey students I have ever met!

This is the best school you could go to. I can't even say how good of an education it gave me and how lovely the community the school creates is. If you want your child to succeed, send them here. The success comes from the best teachers and nicest students.
