I love this school! I have 2 children who attended. Even though the school is overcrowded, it runs smoothly & efficiently. All teachers are dedicated & willing to help the children be successful. Only complaint is P.E. class. Space in gym is limited so some classes are held in lecture hall. Activities I had in middle school are not offered at Southampton (i.e. tennis, archery, gymnastics/tumbling). Overall, most kids have a positive attitude, dress very nice, and enjoy being at the school. Fighing among the students is very infrequent. I applaud the zero tolerance for bullying among students. This school is wonderful. Thanks Mrs. Canavan for a job well done!

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Maryland used the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and grades 5 and 8 in science. The MSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maryland. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.
