My daughter is in her fourth year at Ring Factory and has not had even a mediocre teacher yet. Every one has been very good. The school seems to have a lot of spirit, and their after-school events are always fun for everyone. My wife is a volunteer and sees the leadership several times a week, and she has nothing but nice things to say about them.

The teachers work together well as a team, and the principal is actively involved with the students. The PTA is very active, and I am amazed at the things they are able to provide our students

My grandson attends Ring Factory and they have the best educators in our area.

My child has been a student at Ring Factory for 4 years now. The teachers have been wonderful, dedicated professionals. There are no dicipline problems. The kids are taught in a clean, safe, friendly building. My child enjoys school. I feel very lucky to have this school. The new principal has been in place for 2 years. He is fine. He seems dedicated, is a good speaker, and seems to enjoy the students.

I had heard many good things about this school, but I have been disappointed so far. It is clean and well-maintained, and the kids are safe. The parents seem committed and involved. However, I have not been impressed by the administration or the lower school's faculty. (I don't know much about the 3-5 faculty.) The principal has changed since the 2006 5-star review. I have observed long-term subs in about half of the lower school's classrooms this year. In fact, the only enthusiastic faculty member I've encountered turned out to be a long-term sub. The curriculum is based on 'whole language' and 'everyday math,' both of which are widely discredited. (Look at the discussions on them, right here at 'great schools'!) I know several RFE parents who have chosen or are considering private schools or even homeschooling because of these issues.

My daughter attended this school, K-5. She had outstanding teachers. I have a few issues to keep in mind. Once a child is placed in a certain class level, they remain in that level through 5th grade. Kids need to be tested and challenged to move up to higher levels. Also, the same students were always selected for various awards & activities. Especially the special choir. Children who don't qualify for the Fox Festival Choir feel bad and left out.

I am sad to have to leave this school. We are moving to Arkansas and fear that any school would fail in comparison to Ring Factory. The staff is outstanding. Mr. Cooper is a plugged in principal who cares. Ring Factory is what every school should strive to be like.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Maryland used the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and grades 5 and 8 in science. The MSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maryland. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.
