My two children have been attending this school since Pre-K and it's been the best experience I could have asked for. The VP and Principal are always on top of any problems that may arise. They try to be as transparent as possible so that parents are always informed of what is going on. The teachers are genuinely interested that each student receives the necessary attention needed in order to learn. They communicate with me often via email and I can always come to them with any concerns. My kids have adored their teachers from Pre-K, to the latest grade (2nd). Unfortunately I will be moving, and honestly I fear that I will not find a school as great at this one. The scale of education provided to students reflect as we are in the second best school district in the state.

Church Creek Elementary School is one of the worst if not the worst elem. school that my children have attended. The principal is on a power trip and does not communicate with parents before doing something that will affect a child involved. The vice principal is just as bad and the front office staff has no control over it. THE principal has micromanaged to the point that good teachers are leaving. I will move so my child will not have to endure the bully attitude of that principal.

Church Creek Elementary school is a wonderful school with a great administration. The principal has done a great job over the past few years in creating a rigorous academic environment, as well as fostering a caring atmosphere for the students. My son and daughter have thrived academically from their knowledgeable, hardworking, and thoughtful teachers. I've spent time volunteering in both of my children's classes and have seen first hand the hard work and commitment that goes into their education. If you have any concerns whatsoever, whether you feel your child isn't being challenged or has an issue with another student the teachers and administration (principal and assistant principal) go ABOVE and beyond to ensure there is a mutually acceptable outcome. They also have a wonderful band, chorus, and orchestra which we have thoroughly enjoyed attending their winter and spring concerts over the past few years. Church Creek has also done a great job academically which is evident by their test scores. Truly a wonderful school with a loving, safe environment. Kudos to the administration for the great work you do in making our school a great school!

Ms. Spence is one of the best principals I have come across. She pays attention to every little detail and is attentive to both staff and parents at her school. She returns calls promptly and is very courteous to parents. She has turned this scholl around despite what was handed to her when she took over.

Ms. Spence, principal at Church Creek, has been very helpful in making sure that I know what my children are learning. She has been responsive to my calls when I have questions or concerns. My children's teachers are also helpful. I am a happy parent of children who attend Chuirch Creek.

Church Creek Rocks! My daughter attended this school last year and boy do I miss this school! When I think of Church Creek I think of 3 things; strong leadership, strong teachers, strong sense of community! Initially I did not agree with some of the policies Such as their intense check in and check out policy; not being able to freely enter the building. After the school shootings, threats across the country ; I learned to appreciate that the principal has our children's safety as her top priority. The teachers seem to work hard, make lessons accessible to all kids even if they are special needs . I attribute this to the entire schools' belief that ALL kid must have a chance and that ALL kids can learn! When it comes to the school community; I find it to be a welcoming environment! The principal personally met with me and my husband to tour the building, discussed extracurricular activities , and was responsive when we had questions or concerns. I truly miss this school and would still be there contributing , working with the school leadership and teachers if we didn't move out of state. Forever grateful for Church Creek Elementary!

Church Creek is, an excellent school. I am most impressed with the staff. The teachers are on point and seem to care about the students. I am most impressed with the principle. She is very thorough and fair. My grandson had an issue with another student and she immediately put our minds at ease and looked into the matter. She was easy to communicate with and really listen. I think it is important for our children to feel comfortable and to be a part of a caring environment in order to be able to learn. My hats off to Church Creek, please keep up the good work!!!

Church Creek is an amazing school. I moved to Harford County a year ago but before buying my house I interviewed principals and fell in love with Church Creek! The principal, Kim Spence, took me on a tour and shared her mission and vision for the students at the school. During the time we spoke, I saw her passion for education and love for kids. When I toured the school I saw teacher really teaching kids with high expectations and I saw students engaged in meaningful activities. One year later, I know I made the right decision. My daughter is really learning and growing! I hope Ms. Kim Spence does not leave the school before my kids go on to middle school.

Well, I have sat back and waited to post my review of this school, since my family and I are fairly new and I read the previous reviews. Now, after the first quarter has ended, I must say, this school is amazing. And it's amazing not simply because of caring teachers, but because of the leadership of the Principal Ms. Spence. Most people see her business-like personality and thinks she doesn't care--that could not be farther from the truth. Ms. Spence is the only Principal I have known he cares about children as much as she cares about test scores. She knows about students and about learning and I could not be happier that my family live where we do so that our children can attend this school. I know it's not easy for black teachers and principals in Harford County (I hear what some parents say at PTA Meetings) but Ms. Spence is very fair, always has an ear to listen and is ready to work with us to help our son. Thanks Ms. Spence and I hope you continue to lead this great school.

Church Creek is an amazing school!! My child has been in this school since Kindergarten. The teachers are involved in the success of all the children. The people with negative comments have personal issues with change. Life is all about change!

I don't care for this school at all. It was a good school when my daughter went there but went down hill with the new principle. She never did get her certificate for being a safety no matter how many times I called and asked for it. My son is in 1st grade there and hates it. Teachers have their favorites in class. We are involved in our sons education very much and are seriously thinking about taking him out of this school. As far as no child left behind - I think this school forgot all about with my child and some other children. The parents that we have talked to haven't been happy with this school either. The quality of teaching has gone completely down hill. I hate to be negative; but if you child has learning problems or is not a favorite for teachers don't expect anything from this school.

My daughter came home crying the other day complaining that the school is not challenging her enough, she loves school and wants to excel in it. She finds the school lacking in resources and when I observed the teaching there I found it substandard.

I strongly disagree with most of the negative comments made regarding Chruch Creek Elementary School. When compared to some of the other "great schools" in the harford county school district, church creek does well with their academic scores. The teachers are warm, caring, and have a personal interest in your childs academic and emotional well being. I've had no negative experiences since my child started attending the school in 2008. My child is an honor student and has consistently done well! Honestly parents need to be more actively involved in their child's education, it is not just the teacher or the priniciples responsiblility. If we are not going to be part of the solution to make things "supposedly" better (I think they are doing a great job), lets not be a part of the problem. Great job students, teachers, staff, and principle; Chruch Creek Elementary Rocks!

I would just like to express my appreciation for how Everyone handled a mishap at Church Creek. I forgot about the earl dismissal. Even though it was only a 10-15 min stretch it felt like hours.. A lot can happen in that length of time. My daughter told the Parents that saw her standing out there.. that she cannot leave with any strangers, so the parent called the school and stood there and waited with her, until a family member arrived. The school called me immediately and gave me the parents number. I hear some of the comments that people are making about the fundraisers and things but I must say, change is hard.. It s not necessarily bad..it may take time for people to see Mrs. Spence s vision..However with this being my first year sending a child to Church Creek I am very pleased. Mostly because of the focus they put on safety. Secondly because of the staff..including my daughters Teach Mrs. Greig who is a Heaven sent.

Church Creek is a good school, but I have a big problem with all the fundrasier that they do they have atleast 2 a week. For parents that work or don't work it is alot to do. I feel there are other ways to rasie money without having the parents go in there pocket almost every week.

As the parents before me I feel the same way about the new principal. She took away so many programs and extras (Dance). My daughter goes to 4th grade and was really looking forward to make the Honor roll, which she did. But the principal decided there will be no Honor roll this year. She was heartbroken and cried. The teachers are great, really wonderful. Before I would give the school 5 stars, the new principal took two. I understand that sometimes with new staff comes change, but listen to your PTA and parents, they have been at the school longer......

I would love to explain to Mrs Spence that while we want to be invovlved in our students education we need her to also understand we MUST also work for a living and she needs to be receptive to that. I love the teachers at Church Creek and I hate the new changes! We as parents do not feel welcome there!

I second that comment about the new principal my son is in the 5th grade and my younger son in 1st grade and I agree totally about the new principal she does not embrace the culture at Church Creek at all. This year my son would have been a double distinguished patriot. Perhaps she should have taken time with the PTA and the community before coming here. This school is spectacular but I think bringing her here was not wise decision. Perhaps we should have a meeting about this before Church Creek winds up like the rest of the schools. The teachers, the staff, the academics, the PTA all are outstanding... we all deserve better.

The teachers at Church Creek are very caring and hardworking professionals. The principal has changed this year. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a positive review of her performance. She has difficulty working with the PTA and other members of the local community. The situation has become so dire that many of us are meeting with county leadership to request change. Most of the PTA board members are resigning. Visitors are not welcome in the school. The principal did away with a school dance, Patriot Program, and Honors Assembly, all without consulting the community. If you don't have an appointment, you will be turned away. Want to deliver a project to your child's room? Nope. You must leave it at the office. Your child will receive a good education at Church Creek. Unfortunately, this may be in spite of the leadership of the school. The teachers are great, but we deserve better

I have to say, the more involved your are the better you realize what its like to walk in there shoes. They really care, yes they are busy so you should be too. I have 2 boys 1 special needs, they met every step of the way with what he needs, and have worked very hard to keep him going and stimulated. To not have to get a doctors notes to get extra help for my son is great, this school has everything we need. Yes we have had our ups and downs, but every shcool has them. So I say send your kid here, we have been here 2 years and sadly have to move. I just wish the schools were rated better.

If you are looking for good teachers this is the place. I felt that is was important to go on this sight and thank the school and teachers for such a great experience. I love the teachers so much. My son was having trouble with reading in the 2nd grade and they made such a difference in such a short amount of time. Mrs. Filbert you are a wonderful teacher and some how kept my son interested. This will be my son's 4th year here and each teacher has been oustanding. Thank you for everything.

My daughter has attended this school since Kindergarten and loves it here. They are very responsive to the children's needs as well as any questions the parents might have. The only change I would love to see is additional playground equipment, they have 2 small play areas with approx. 4 swings. The family fun nights are a great treat for the kids to get together and a great ideat to get parents involved with the school and students. Not to mention great fundraisers!

I am a parent of two children who attend this school.Church Creek is a great school. There are plenty of activities for the kids band, orchestra, student council, safety patrolers, chorus, etc. There are many after school programs through the Belcamp Rec council such as basketball, baseball, soccer, softball, etc. This school also has wonderful programs like the Patriot Program. And special events such as Jump Rope for heart! Although the level of parent involvemnet could be a little higher,we do have many great volunteers, including myself! I love to spend as much time I can with the kids. The staff is wonderful. My son will be entering the third grade next year. He has had awesome teachers thus far! My family was planning to move, and we are still here because of our love for Church Creek.

This is a great school. I am a teacher at another school and I could only dream of working in a place like Church Creek. All of my daughter's teachers have been outstanding. Her first grade teacher is one that she will never forget. I am so happy that she had an opportunity to have a teacher that will always be close to her heart.

My daughter came to Church Creek last year and is now in 5th grade. Her grades have been excellent and she loves to participate in most all activities they offer. I know that has a lot to do with both the school and the wonderful teachers. The music rooms and gym were a pleasant surprise compared to her prior school. I was a little disappointed to see the test scores but feel confident they are trying to improve each year. Over-all I am very pleased.

Very good school, only limited by parent participation. There is a core group of parents who donate much of their time and efforts, but there are also many parents who don't seem interested at all in their child's education or discipline. Great teachers, great facility, great principle - not so great effort by parents.

I moved from that school all the way back to Maine. My home state! I miss everyone there and to hear that my art teacher sacrificed all of his hair! I miss everyone in that shcool and wish the students the best of luck Former student, Now a freshman in Highschool, Chelsea Blood

2nd school my daughter has attended in Harford County. We chose to buy a house the area after hearing many rave reviews from other parents about teachers and principal. This school was one of the mailn reasons we bought a starter home in Belcamp - haven't regretted it. Many parents are involved in school, pta and fundraisers etc. The Principal Mr. Steeg is fair and strict and tells it like it is.
