I can't understand why GreatSchools has dropped Vansville from 8 to 6 rating within about a year. My kids are in K & 2 and doing great. The teachers & principal are the best around & test scores are excellent. Nothing has changed. GreatSchools rating system is wrong on this one; just read the reviews.

We are very happy with the quality of education our two kids get at this school. The principal is awesome and the teachers are amazing. It is hard to imagine a modern day public school system with over 800 students that runs this well. Keep up the great job of creating our country's future business and government leaders.

I love Vansville! I am an educator in Prince George's County and I will not send my children to the school I teach at because I love Vansville so much! The school as a whole really take academics seriously. Some teachers are better than others. The reason I did not give the school 5 stars is because I feel as though some teachers need to really meet the children where they are and bring them up from there. Overall the staff is great. The administration is awesome! The principal really cares about the students and is involved and does not primarily remain in his office. ALso there is a lot of parental involvement, I see a lot of parents involved in community activties and school events, unlike the school I teach at. I definitely reccomend this school , simply check out the MSA scores! They speak for themselves!

My son is about to attend this school for the first year. I have gotten nothing but raving reports from friends and neighbors whose kids attend. I too, am withdrawing from another PG school that was supposedly a good school, but my son was not getting what he needed. Just the interaction that I have had with the staff thus far in the transition has been great! Only 3 stars right now because to get 5 we need to be there and see the excellence continue.

I would like to say that this school is one of the best in PG County. The administration truly cares about the students, and is always opened to talking to parents. The teachers do contact you whenever you attempt to contact them and leave a message. I do not know how Vansville houses 900 students and can maintain a good educational culture. I think the teachers and staff do not get enough credit. One last thing: My kids are not perfect, and not all their eachers are perfect, but they are in the business of teaching my children and they want to work with us in making our children better. No one takes joy in telling a parent how bad their kid child is. Thank you Vansville for teaching my kids in being responsible.

It's unfortunate that you have had that experience, b/c I actually have been very impressed, esp b/c they are a PG school. They have been exceptional with our child; both the teacher and principal involvement. Sometimes, a very bad experience with a teacher can give a parent your kind of opinion about a school. I'm saying this because this is what I have experienced in another school where I withdrew my kids from and most people tend to think that school is one of the best! If you have not already, I would say talk to their principal, he seems quite experienced. Good luck.

This was our first year in PG County and it has been horrible. The office staff and teachers are the worse I have ever seen. The school is accommodations are beautiful but don t expect your children to receive the education they need.
