Progressive Christian Academy

I have been a Progressive Christian Academy parent for 9 years. The school always boast great, caring and loving teachers but the administration has brought it down. The last two years were not at all great, with school year 2008-2009 being the most trying during my 9 years. Staff turn over is extremely high especially in the middle/high school, during the past school year a couple of teachers left during the school year, not good!!!! . Every school year parents and students have to get used to new teachers. All in all I would rate 4 stars for the teachers who in my opinion are dedicated and strive to bring out the best in our children. Our family has been blessed with great teachers over the years but with such a poor adminstration the teachers are unable to function at they full potential.

my child is currently enrolled at PCA and I believe it is a wonderful school. I am a picky parent and went around to numerous schools trying to find the right fit for me and my son. I am happy with the care and education he is recieving. He has learned so much and enjoys going there. That means the world to me. I have read some bad reviews about this school that caused me to have some reservations at first. But the reviews are wrong..at least the negative ones. I have not seen anything bad happening at the school. Just come to the school and take a look...ask to sit in with the class your child would be in and I am sure you will feel the same. They have small class sizes and can make sure your child achieves to the best of his or her ability.

I enrolled my child at PCA this year in the Pre-K program. So far so good. The teachers are enthusiastic and they keep the children engaged. It is a freindly enviornment and they are advanced at teaching the kids. For example the PK program has vtech laptops on the Pre-K students supply list. Great stuff.

PCA would be a good school. May daughter went there about two years ago and she learned nothing. I didn't feel that she was truly taught until I took her out of that school. But, still this day, I say I wish it was a better school because my daughter is religious and she misses the togetherness of the teachers and students from when she went there. It would be the perfect school if the administration is changed. Try changing the leadership and the high turnover and maybe people would consider enrolling their children. - Y.

PCA is not about the money, I can honestly say , there is not a teacher there that has taken a position for the money. It is about educating, the children as well as the parents. You may have had a bad experience but instead of trying to down the school, maybe offer some suggestions and start being part of the solution. It is so easy to sit back and attack a system but try going face to face with the enemy, you to may may fall a few times, but the good news is we can and will get back up and continue to educate young people with the , A Christ Centered educational System.

My daughter was enrolled at Progressive's Camp Springs campus in K-3 for 2006-2007. It was a great academic experience. She grew in leaps and bounds throughout the year, and many people that we come in contact with are surprised that she is only (now) 4 years old. We have reenrolled her for this fall and intend to enroll our soon-to-be 3 year old son. The teachers are highly dedicated. We know that all schools has growing pains, especially small Christian schools that do not receive government funding. More parental involvement is definitely necessary, but the staff and administration truly care about the children and their education. I do believe that great things can and will be done at Progressive.

PCA offers a lot, including a qualified and caring staff, but it fails to deliver because of poor leadership. The staff, the students, and parents are not supported by the leadership, and that is why this school crumbles.

My daughter was at PCA for about two months and it was a nightmare. I was literally teaching my daughter on a daily and weekend basis to make up for the education she wasn't receiving at school. Please do yourself a blessing and put your child in another school.

I wish I had read these reviews before spending my money there. I was pleased with my son's learning experience, however, I got cheated on the before and after care. I was threathen by the finance person with a letter. I never received a bill/phone call about additional charges outside of the monthly tuition charged. I visited often, sat on the PTA board and no mention of outstanding balances ever came up. The Pastor did not reflect christianity. The turn over with staff that were members of the church should have been a warning.

I am so very disappointed with Progressive! From the unprofessional staff, to the young adults smoking in front of the building, to the lack of communication with the parents. This is my second year, I only came back because I wanted to give the school an honest chance and not to mention the Pastor promised things would get better. Obviously the teachers aren't happy either because the turn around is so great.
