This school is horrible!. My kids went here from 2011-mid 2013. I only kept my oldest there because his younger brother was starting pre-k and the Charter school on Andrews AFB didn't have pre-k. The office staff is rude or ignorant. I tried to get an appt with the principal multiple times and they'll just say she's busy or she won't call you back if you leave a message on her voicemail. I will say that their Special Ed program was pretty decent though. Ms. Stephanie would see my son at least every other day and she communicated well with me as a parent. I was very happy with that. Also Mrs. Brown who was a kindergarten teacher for my older son was a very good teacher but in a bad school.
I actually go to this school right now and I have to admit, it has alot of flaws. For example, instead of a cafeteria, we have a multipurpose room where a lot of our programs happen. But then again I have encountered "mean teachers" and things similar but don't blame the school unless the the teacher did something evil like cuss at the kid or something but other than that, I would do the same thing too because in my class, there is several of kids who think their smarter than the teacher and talk back and cuss behind the teacher back. That makes me angry because I know that teachers need to be professional but these kids get the parents called over and over and over again until it becomes a daily basis. My point is why penalize the school when the kids are the one's ruining the school? Remember whoever is reading this, this is my opinion! If you think opposite, fine by me just remember everyone have a right to think their own thoughts.
Disgusting!!! I attepted to enroll my children at this school after being stationed at Joint Base Andrews. Upon entrance of the office, I was "greeted" by a woman missing several teeth, that said-'what you need?'. After informing me that I would have to wait about 10 minutes until she could help me, I sat in a chair in the hall outside of the office. As I was waiting, I could hear the gym teacher screaming at a class of children that looked to be about 3rd graders. There was not an attempt to instruct, just screaming. Then she proceded to mock a child for crying. A couple minutes later, she walked past me, a young girl following her. As she was walking the girl to, what I assumed to be the principal's office, she said to the child "yeah, little bastard, now you want to cry." No, I wanted to cry! Once in the office, the principal/vice-principal did not even ask the child what happened. She too, proceded to scream at the little girl about 'how sick of' her she was. It was at that point I left the school, with out registering my children! I would stay as far away from this school as possible! I will homeschool my children until I can find an alterative.
HORRIBLE!!!! My kids ended up in the ER more than once & school did nothing, but blame or ignore.
If you have order to Andrews AFB you really need to look at your options for other schools. Lots of people homeschool, there is a charter school on base, and there are some better districts if you choose to live off base. This is not a good school. They have major budget issues, the staff is rude, and the kids are the ones who are paying the price. If you have a choice I would look elsewhere.
This school is unorganized and the material the students are learning is well below the national average.
I feel the teachers try to do their best with the limited resources made available in this school. The principal is NEVER available and the very few times she has been is very rude and unprofessional. They do very little to help children that are a little behind, for example the reading recovery program lasts half of the year and ends regardless of the childs progress or lack of. And twice so far this year my son has been sent home on the wrong bus, he should go to an after school program and was put on the bus to come to our house! Thank god for my neighbors!!
My daughters teacher is very slow to respond to my requests. The office staff rarely want to take responsibility for anything and when you call for something they always juggle you around to someone else. Discipline is almost non-existent, the teachers really couldn't care less! My daughter does very well academically no thanks to the teachers, she is just a great student by herself.
The staff is very unprofessional, the teachers talk on cell phones. It seems like most teachers are in it for what little money they do get and not in educating our children. If you want to meet with any of the executive staff good luck.
The admin. is not very professional at all and The teachers are always yelling at the kids There is a way to talk to kids and the way they do it is not the right way The lunch room monitors are not that nice to the kids either poor babies all they want is alittle help with there food and There is a very nig prob. with hitting and not much has been done about it I kow they are young but They should still be doing something about and The letters home are not working Try something else Rethink sending your child here please
Don't send your child here if it's at all possible! The administration is unprofessional and the teachers are just there to get the money and run. The fundraisers are crazy, a roll of wrapping paper for 12 dollars and then the kids see nothing in return. When there is a problem with your child they call you to come get them or stick them in another class, as if that's a solution. The teachers don't teach to the kids they teach at them. If they don't get it oh well. We are a military family and the school gets more money for our kids than they do for normal students but the school is still not providing any materials for the teachers or the kids. Please rethink sending your child here if at all possible!
This is my dughter's first year at this school. She is in kindergarten and has a wonderful teacher. She is learning in leaps and bounds. Unfortunately this school does not have a good history of retaining their outstanding teachers. The administration it seems is not very supportive of their teachers. Teachers are pulled from instructional time at least twice a month to attend seminars. The kindergarteners are kept separate from the other older classes. I feel confident that my daughter is safe.
My son has no problems with the school. His teacher is awesome and he is doing really well in class. However, the school itself, has many problems. When it rains, it comes in under the walls and the carpet is wet..and moldy I am sure. There are some doors that do not open but 6 inches. Fortunately, I do not have any problems yet. But he is only in Kindergarden and I am sure if he was here in 3rd or 4th grade, we would have many problems. Something needs to be done.
There is a significant bullying issue at this school and the administration fail to acknowlege or address this problem! I know this problem first hand. I have a child that is constantly being pushed around and comes home injured! I am currently trying to move my family away from here solely because of this school! I strongly recommend you find another school for your children if at all possible.
This school is unacceptable as far as appearance goes. I know the PTA did some work and that has improved it. FTE needs a complete overhauling and it needs to start with the Administration.
I know some of us don t have a choice where are children attend school, it is based off of our residential address, unless you have the money for private school. With that being said I am horrendously appauld by the lack of class and caring from these so called educators. This was my daughters first year of school. The teachers look a mess. As far as discipline they excuse the actions of these children or pawn them off to another classroom rather than explaining and correcting the behavior. There is hardly any organization and constant problems with school materials and equipment. This schools priorities are screwed up!!! If your child has to attend francis T Evans it is in your best interest to be fully involved!!! Good luck
We moved to this school midway through the school year and have been extremely disappointed! I will say, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you are willing to go in and make yourself *known, your child will likely get a better education. Good for you, bad for other kids.
This school is not somewhere you want to send you kids. The teachers are OK. The rest of the place forget it. I am now home schooling my child. The staff I would say is their for the pay check that is about it. Very sad. We are a military family. we live off the base that the President comes to get on his very nice air force one. And you would think being a military family he would make sure our men who fight for our country. Would make sure their children were in nice SAFE schools. Not at all what is happening. I am very disappointed.
With this being our first experience with school, overall, we are not impressed. I really like the Kindergarten teachers as people and educators. I do feel that there are too many children in each class and that the school should have assistants in each class. I know that there are assistants in higher grades. They are needed in the kindergarten classrooms. I do not think that it is the teachers fault, it is the schools. As for the school as a whole, I'm not at all impressed. Several of the staff are very unprofessional and lack caring for the children. I do not agree that this school should be aloud military funding when it is not an all military school. There are several teachers that care, but they are over shadowed by those who don't.
My kids went to this school. Wow! Not great. My son was in third grade and so advanced in math, the teacher had him in a 5th grade book, but the principal took it and said what would they do in 5th grade! Kids excel here, because it's so easy! No challenge. As a military family your able to see the awesome education in other parts o the country. This is not it! If a kid has a discipline problem they set him in a lower grade classroom for the day! Great influence on the lower kids! Would not recommend going here. Some great teachers are here, but some not so great!
