I really feel that this school's primary concern is education. This is the only school that fosters independence; it isn't just "babysitting." There is a structured curriculum and I see consistency from classroom to classroom. My daughter has had the same teachers for the past year so I have not experienced that. They keep an open line of communication with parents and I love the weekly newsletters. I really feel that I made the best decision for my daughter when I chose the Young School.

Generally disappointed by the director's inability to retain quality teachers and respond to parents' concerns. Frequently apear to struggle to meet adequate teacher:child ratios and often hire high school or college students with little to no experience for summer months.

For what you pay for your child to attend, the teacher turnover is way too high. Young children need consistency, and they are too young to truly express how they feel when a teacher they have become attached to is no longer there. My child has been a student here since February 2008. His class has had three different teachers in less than 1 academic year. The quality of teachers has definitely declined, along with the genuine care and concern for the children. Parents have and continue to remove their children from the school, and teachers are continuing to leave. We are looking for other options as well. There are still a handful of quality teachers there, but that is not enough. You will find people on both sides of the spectrum as far as feelings about the school. So hopefully others will write reviews so you can judge for yourself.
