This school is very nice. They have very good staff, principal(s), students, and after school programs. I love this school, they make sure you learn what you re supposed to learn, and if you misbiehave, you get the consequences. Punishments: lunch detenion, afterschool detention, saturday school, suspension, and expulsion. But, if you behave, you will be fine.
I absolutly DO NOT like this school at all!The hallways are way too crowded and i sometimes get slammed against lockers there's hardly any room, theres not even enough classrooms for the teachers and some of my teachers have to roll around a cart b/c of this. and i even have to share my homeroom class with 8th graders. a few of the teachers are cool but a lot are very mean. i even had a teacher, who btw, wasnt even mine, yelled and embaressed me in front of the whole class. i also hear theres a lot of fights. a lot of the kids are kind of mean. and i have very few friends that are a good infulence on my life. thank god im moving this summer!!!
I am totally disappointed with this school. My child has been there for 3 years now and if you have a child who struggles do not look to the admin. to help you because they do not have a clue what is going on. Having said that I have meet with some of the best teachers I could ever hope for it is a real shame that their leadership is so poor. With class sizes of 35:1 in most classes I wonder how much longer those great teachers will last.
i go to crofton middle school and love it but there is two problems crowded busses and busy hallways with wierd kids
Very overcrowded- 35+ kids per teacher. Several incidents of violence this year and expulsion is rarely, if ever, given. Principal leadership is weak. Teachers burnt out and some only put in the bare minimum. Have had difficult time getting support and communicating with some of the teachers and some are extremely disorganized.
i graduated last year. its an overall great school. teachers always want the best for you and most are more like friends with the kids. there are a lot of extra curriculars and clubs to join. the only problem is overcrowding. we got redistricted last year and it is really crowded now. definitely not a 17:1 student teacher ratio. more like 29:1. we have some of the best plays around. its a lot of fun going here. on my last day, all of the students were crying. you end up knowing everyone at the school and become really close. everyone is cool with each other and there are rarely fights. i miss that school a lot. another bad thing though is that the kids are split up between 2 high schools so you loose a lot of friends. great test scores too. amazing school!!
i am in 6th grade so this is all new to me i love cms it is the best. when i walk in to shool everyday it feels great the teachers are nice and the adminstarters are better but it rocks all the way to the top
Excellent school. CMS Principal ,Ms. Hansen, is very professional and always available to parents. Parent's teacher communication is excellent
I'm going into 8th grade next year and I love CMS! In 6th grade I did have an issue with some girls being mean to me, but when I went to the Guidance Office and we all talked it out it never happened again. The counselors are great, and so are the teachers. Some of the ways they handle bad students never helps (like sending them to the Decision Making Room), but thats really the only problem. CMS has a great music program too. Sure, Crofton Middle is overcrowded, but most of the schools in Anne Arundel County are. Also, this is directed to the person complaining about 'aggressive behavior from some of the students': You can't ever get away from bullies at any middle or high school. Kids are kids, and they're going to be mean to their peers sometimes.
Very nice and welcoming. A good school but since redistricting it has become worndown and crowded. The teachers are still very good though and the oppertunities great.
