Allegany has a rigorous academic curriculum, a dedicated administration and faculty, and an enthusiastic student body. I have been continually impressed by the dedication of the teachers - particularly those who sponsor an extra curricular activity. Long hours and hard work really do pay off - and Allegany shows this in every venue in which students compete. Keep up the great work!

To be honest, I don't understand why everyone is talking good about this school. I agree that the extra curricular activities are good for this area. Our teams can't compete with big schools. 1A wow were so tough. Then i also see people talking about how great the academics are. Not true. I'd say the highest percentage of 4-year college attendance would go to Mountain Ridge. I went to Fort Hill and their academics blow too. All this area lives for is football. Has anyone from Allegany County ever went pro in a sport other than baseball? I think not. Our county should be focusing more on academics and baseball.

I find that the quality of education given on a whole is substandard at best! Sports and Band are what run this school. In my opinion academics comes in 3rd after what should be extracurricular activities.

The acacdemic programs seem sound, there are many different programs available for students and they provide in school time to meet. The level of parent involvement in the school is very high.

Allegany has the highest test scores and the largest percentage of students advancing to 4 year schools from Allegany County. The top sections score at or above other top sections of most Maryland state public schools. This the school to choose if you have a strong academic child.

Allegany is the top academic school in Allegany County. Test scores and college placements are very high. As a past student and a teacher in Allegany County I beleive this is the place to send your child if they are strong academically.
