Harford Christian School (HCS) is a blessing to the students and families that attend. Students participating at HCS are influenced each day by a dedicated, Christ-centered staff. Beginning with the dedicated transportation staff to the overseeing by outstanding leadership, HCS is truly a place where your child can grow in spirit and mind. The foundation of an education at HCS is built upon Truth. Strong biblical instruction, challenging academics, a competetive sports program, and musical excellence are definite by-products of God's grace for this unique school.
I have been very pleased when I see the effort that both the principle and teachers have put into their job and the students that they truely do care about so much. I have twin sons that have aspergers, they had spent two year at HIGHLANDS prior to this year. I have never seen teachers who are so dedicated to seeing that my sons are held accountable for their work and to strive to be the best! No matter what struggle you have in life. Harford Christian is a wonderful school, And like the last person that commented wrote This school 'Gets It', That couldn't have better been said. They Get it, and couldn't be more understanding and supportive of the parents and childs needs.
I'm not sure how anybody could find something wrong at HCS. Trust me, I spend enough time there! We're quite like a family; we tease eachother and have some disagreements, but we always make up and have a great laugh about it later. Even the teachers laugh, too! Is it pathetic of me to say that I actually WANT school to start again?!? SEPTEMBER EIGHTH, BABEH! WHOO!
My oldest son Jacob graduated this year and I could not possibly be more pleased. HCS has been a special memory he will keep forever. My second son has dyslexia and is in a special program for children such as himself. His teachers go above and beyond to help him. My daughter my oldest daughter wll begin third grade this year and she is Amazing. They let her move forward and challenge her as she is very intelligent. I also have a daughter in pre-k at HCS. Both of my girls were singing in German and Spanish over the weekend. They are able to sign many things as well. My third grader plays the piano, the recorder and sings. She can't wait to be old enough to add the flute and hand bells to her music studies. Children fourish in this special place. Mr. Wilson is a God send.
it is a great school and organized
Very good overall. As in any school, a small # of teachers you wont like, but most are excellent and caring. I can't say enough good things about principal, Brian Wilson. He does everything with excellence; is very responsive to parents' concerns; engages the students in the hallways and at school events; is big on discipline, but laughs with and encourages the kids as well; a truly Godly man. The special ed program has served us well. Where else can you go in MD to get a well-rounded, Christian ed for your special needs child for under $6000/year? They have individualized my child's ed to meet her needs, without sacrificing quality. She has small class sizes (5 to 1) where needed and is included in mainstream classes whenever appropriate. If your kid has learning disorder, this school 'gets it'.Excellent fine arts and sports programs.Great Bible-based curriculum.
HCS is an amazing school with amazing people. I am so thankful that we are able to send our child there and cannot wait for our younger child to attend starting 9/2009. There are many opportunities there contrary to what some of the reviews say. Readers, keep in mind, this is a Christian school. Of course there are rules and expected behavior. How can you expect anything less? I am thankful that HCS reinforces what we teach our children at home. HCS does prepare you for the real world! They teach you how to deal with everyday situations in this real and scary world with truths from God's Word and how to remain what He wants you to be rather than conforming to this world around us.
i used to be a student there, but i left after freshan year. The school is ridiculous, basically if you're a young man this is not the school for you. The teachers prefer girls, but if you're a teacher or faculty kid, you'll be fine anyou can probably get away with anything. HCS really takes the fun out of learnin with their crazy rules. Never once did i have an actual clas discussion there. Also HCs does not ecourage college, unless you want to go to Bob Jones. No college fairs or guidance couselors to help with college searches. No college reps, except for those from Bob Jones. There's a reason why so many kids leave, they keep you much too sheltered and don't prepare childrenfor the real world.
HCS has something absolutely missing from government schools: God consciousness. It is in every classroom and every lesson. The academics are no slouch and can be compared to any school in Maryland. But, first things first: they know who God is.
This school is a wonderful blessing we parents have. The children are taught how to live and learn as a child of God. The teachers and staff are caring, energetic, creative, and handle each child as the individual learner they are. Behavior expectaions are clearly made and order is kept, while still maintaining a loving atmosphere. The school offers a wide varitey of athletic options, numerous fine arts programs, several honors courses, and even special education. There truly is something for everyone at HCS. From the excellent teachers to the extracurricular activities; this school is a rare find.
