Teacher effectiveness: Effective

Mr. Grimm was the best. He taught the practical classes, and always said he was a fountain of useless knowledge.

I can only speak for myself. I had the motivation to succeed because I knew I wasen't going to get it from anywhere else.

Overall I had an average experience. My biggest issue was class scheduling. The guidence counselors were ineffective, and took no interest in what the students wanted. They recommended taking classes that would make the school look good, even if not in the best interest of the student.

Amount of homework: Too much
July 10, 2015
Homework was assigned daily. Along with projects throughout the semesters. The teachers seemed to assign the bulk of the work for homework, and lecture the entire time in class. To me this is ineffective, because I learn best from working through problems with someone, not watching how they are to be done. It was difficult to play sports and complete all of my requirements.

There was a lot of ignorence in the student population. I attribute it to the eclectic mix of students from difference social and economic backgrounds.

By far my best instruction was in AP US History, AP Bio, and AP Calc AB. EHS sends students to lots of prominent colleges. If you do well in school, it will certainly not prevent you from getting into any college you want to, by association. I highly recommend taking AP classes at every opportunity. U of MD schools also recognize AP credit for college courses (but you don't earn GPA credits for the course unless you take it at college). My 3 best teachers ever, in case you were curious, are Beaufait, Overington, and Holmes. They are highly organized with their instruction and are great at answering questions. For these teachers, the rating I would give is 5/5. The school on average, however, is, well, average. Just do well and don't get stuck in classes that resemble Driver's Ed. The school has those, too, if you prefer them (tongue-in-cheek). The school is one of the best in the region, only really coming behind the home schoolers and "magnet schools" on the Western Shore. It also has a pretty fair cross-section of American society in terms of diversity. Enjoy!

my daughter is a freshman at easton high. there are fights on a regular basis and many instances of cyberbullying. i have personally met with several members of the administration including the principal and have not seen any attempt to improve the social climate in the school. i believe the student's grades suffer due to lack of leadership.

Well i really like this school. I was not doing good for the first couple of years of it and then my teachers helped me see that according to my HSA scores i am really smart. So they had like an intervention with me and now i actually care and am trying to get my grades up. I am now proud to say I'm passing all my classes even if they are only with 70's. Most people would see that as bad but it has been a long time since my grades were above 50's (2 1/2 years to be exact) i am now in a class called independent studies. This class is helping me get my credits so i can graduate next year. I will not give up till all my grades are up to what i can achieve and then i will try harder to better myself even more!

Not a bad high school to go to. I attended all four years and enjoyed it. I was not one of the classes that had the macbooks, but from observing the younger students they are a waste of time and money. In one of my classes a student was watching porn on his macbook and the teacher just told him to put it away. The AP classes are great, but some of the regular ones are a joke.

The school is small enough to be intimate, but large enough to offer a myriad of course offerings.

While I attended this was an all-around average school. The teachers I had were good, but the administration drug the whole school down.

EHS Is a great school for students looking into careers in technology. Brand new MacBooks are issued to incoming students every year, and personally, I think they really help. Most of our textbooks are saved via pdf and we have a lot of programs to help us study. And to the person below, a lot of kids don't misuse their laptop privileges. I know I sure don't! The teachers really do care, and they do what ever it takes to make sure we pass our classes. We have an exceptional sports program, offering almost every major sport in the state of maryland. The school offers many different choices for lunch too. Overall, this is an awesome high school, and I'm ready for my next year here!

This school is a trainwreck, unless you happen to be in AP courses, or have an influential parent. The teachers do their best in a terrible situation. The laptop program is a farce--students misuse this opportunity by constantly playing games and downloading music. Anyone will tell you that this is the case. It is a well-known fact that referrals are swept under the rug. Again, if your child is in AP courses or if you have a louder voice in the community, you will be happy with this school. Scratch the surface in the slightest, and you will find a wealth of dysfunction.

i go here and at times you can feel unsafe. there are many different areas of Easton and lots of different people around. However, it is a great school with a wide range of classes. There is AP classes, an unrivaled Chef Cook program, cross-campus classes with St. Michaels High and even duel enrollment for juniors and seniors interested in attending Chesapeake College during school hours.

I cannot believe that another parent says her daughter has not felt safe at times. What was she afraid of? Easton is an extremely safe school with great academic and extracurricular programs. Both of my kids have gone her ( my daughter is still here) and they both love it. This is after 9 years of private school. Great teachers are the hallmark of the school.

My daughter has attended easton for her first two years. She has done ok and has absolutely loved the fine arts program which is excellent. She has felt very unsafe on many occasions. Not recommending the area for teens.

Easton High School is a great place for children to attend school. The gifted students can attend classes that will challenge them, and students that may be above average, but not exactly 'gifted' can attend advanced placement classes. When reviewing Easton Schools I noticed that there is a crime index of 7 has been given to Easton. That is impossible, and very inaccurate. My wife can go out for milk at 10pm, and never be, nor feel threatened. This website needs to check their facts. The only good thing is folks that may have considered Easton as a place to leave have been discouraged to do so because of the crime assessment. That's OK with me because I want to keep my small town, small. Bob

After 9 years of private school our family was concerned regarding my son's transition to Easton Public High School. It has been a wonderful experience for him. The lap top program is an exceptional educational asset. The teachers have all been motivating and supportive. Parent Connect allows us to keep on top of our son's progress or problems. The whole academic environment has exceeded our expectations.

Academic programs are excellent with a combination of AP courses and tech ed classes that allow students with many different interests to succeed. The sports programs are unrivaled on the Eastern Shore.

Easton High School is a wonderful school. I am thrilled we sent our daughter there. Previously she had been attending a local private school, but the opportunities at Easton far exceeded anything else we could have gotten. She loves the variety of classes and programs, not to mention the excellent sports and challenging AP courses. The building itself is lovely and safe. Teachers at Easton really seem to care and involve the parents and go the extra mile to help students. The principal is highly qualified with his Doctorate and a large portion of the faculty are continuing their educations with degrees beyond the required.
