My son is a sixth-grader who was at the top of his class at Abingdon. Since starting at EMS he has been academically challenged and encouraged. His teachers have been wonderful.

A rigorous middle school education helps students in a difficult transitional age group focus on something other than themselves.

My child feels at home at that school almost as though it is her second home. plus all the teachers look out for the students and talk to parents alot about their children. I also enjoy the fact that you can check out almost every asignment on a thing called edline.com.

I am the parent of a 7th grader and will have another child attending this school next year. As is true with every school. there are things about Edgewood Middle that could be improved. However, my experiences with teachers, counselors, etc. have been positive experiences. My son has learned a tremendous amount academically and has had many opportuntities with Band and other activities that I am not certain would have been available to him at other supposedly 'better' schools. The new administration is dedicated to improving the reputation of Edgewood and getting students the recognition they deserve for their hard work. I am proud of my child and our school.

I have 2 children--one just graduated this year and has been on the honor roll for every quarter since she was in EMS. My son has ADHD and EMS is great with children in the IEP. Both of my children where in the Baltimore County School system and the school that they were in had a great reputation, but did not care about children with so called special needs. EMS has been wonderful with my son. My daughter does not even miss her old school. She can not wait to start high school. The teachers are wonderful and so is the office staff.

This school has a bad reputation, but it is undeserved. EMS is a very diverse middle school with some wonderful teachers.

I have two children who attend EMS. They LOVE it there; it is such a shame that people get caught-up in the negative publicity that surrounds EMS. The teachers want your children to succeed. I have never had trouble getting in contact with a teacher. As a matter of fact, I have had teachers email me to tell me what a pleasure it is to have my children in their classes. I was very pleased that a teacher would take the time to do that. My oldest daughter was invited to apply for the Math and Science program at Aberdeen HS; she feels very stongly about attending EHS instead. My children look forward to going to school (most of the time). Parents, don't upset your childern unnecessarily by bad-mouthing EMS; let them make up thier own minds. As long as you stay involved, they will get a good education.

My son attented Edgewood middle school and we had no problems at all. Sure, there are some problems but all schools have their share of problems. Edgewood has a bad rep and it's a real shame.

I am so very disappointed with this school. My oldest daughter is in 6th grade and I have four other children who will be attending this school. I am terrified, and greatly considering private school. The counter staff in the office are rude at best, principles do not return phone calls, counselors leave much to be desired. I am fed up. This school needs a serious house cleaning. It seems to me they should start from the top down. When will harford county school board realize there are big problems here?
