This is a safe school and offers a decent education. The teachers clearly know the curriculum and implement it with skill. However the principal is not much of a leader. On back to school night, less than half the teachers showed up. The teachers seem to care, but it doesn't look like they have the support they need. What we are finding is that the curriculum is taught, nothing more. If your child excels, there's no creativity built in. If your child struggles, there's no help. I have two kids there. The GT program is OK, but not exciting or challenging. There is open hostility toward LDs from the principal but most teachers are more accommodating.

My three oldest children have attended ELMS and I've been more than happy with the staff, academics, administration and student behavior. My children never complained about bullying or feeling unsafe. There was your typical middle school "drama" but nothing to be concerned about. I have two more children who will attend ELMS and I know it will be a great experience!

It is a great school if you are looking at it from an academic prospective, but if you look at it from a bullying prospective they do not take this very seriously. I have talked to several parents and my child about this and it is a huge problem at this school. Especially with the 6th graders. The staff really needs to take a stand and contact these children's parents. It really affects these kids academicly and emotionally.

Its great, but there are a couple problems with the teachers and staff and bullying, but overall, it is a wonderful school. Some kids have come to their parents about being bullied and drama that is being encountered in this school and I think the staff needs to take a stand, and be more aware of the situation.

This school has a serious problem with drama amongst its students. I constantly hear from my child about bickering and bullying among the 6th grade children. The counselors needs to take a serious approach in handling this situation and contacting parents of these troublemakers. Many parents talk outside of the school about this situation because quite a few of the children are remarking to their parents about it. The staff seem dedicated to the children but unfortunately this drama interferes with learning!

Both of my daughters attend ELMS, and it has been the most positive educational environment for each since the beginning. Mr. Saunders, the principal, is energetic, involved, enthusiastic and really dedicated to making ELMS a safe, nurturing learning environment. Each teacher is willing to keep in touch with you about your child's progress. They also have after-school activities, an orchestra/band, and other extracurricular activities that some schools lack. I know they recently talked about getting the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Excellence Award, which is the highest award any school can achieve. (I heard about this at Back to School Night for the '08-'09 school year). The most rewarding thing is that the teachers are so wonderful, as is the rest of the staff (front office, counselors, etc..) and you can be assured that your child will really flourish in this positive, encouragement-rich atmosphere.

ELMS is a great school. The principal is absolutely wonderful and makes it fun for the kids. The education is top quality and class size is very good. The teachers are great and really encourage the kids to do their best. The extracurricular activities are top notch.
