I now have my 3rd child attending here and I've been VERY pleased with the school. The staff is dedicated and hard-working and committed to excellence. We moved to the area from another area with a reputation for excellent schools and after a lot of research, the Elkton schools impressed us the most. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Every high school is going to have it's issues, but the response to the issues that crop up is what separates an 'ok' school from a 'good/really good' school. Elkton HS is a really good school.
Elkton high is an excellent school. I learned so much the years I was there before I moved. The teachers go out of their way to help you every way possible, it's a clean, and an overall motivating atmosphere. The school has an exceptional sports and music program, and the possiblities here at Elkton high are endless! Do not let anyone tell you anything different about Elkton High.
I am currently a student at Elkton High. The teachers are amazing. All you have to do is ask for help and they will find time to help you. Elkton High by far has the best English and Math teachers in Cecil County. The sports teams at EHS are all very talented and are helped by the excellent coaches. And if you are not into playing sports there are plenty of clubs to join such as; key club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and more. Our school is diverse and welcoming, making friends is not a problem. I would say without a doubt Elkton High is the best high school in the Cecil County area
I graduated in '06 and I must say that, in terms of the teachers and their teaching, Elkton High is great. There are many teachers who go beyond what is expected, making their classes educational and fun. What I didn't like about EHS, though, was the students. Some were fine, others seems like they were obligated to make the school seem 'hardcore'. You would go in and people would complain about teachers not doing their job or not teaching what was on tests, when in reality it was them not caring enough to pay attention. The principal was great, and easy to talk to as well as the rest of the office staff. Overall, EHS was a good school, I just wish that in my 4 years there, the students would stop trying to be Scarface and actually learn.
Having attended CCPS exclusively, and graduating from EHS quite some time ago, as a student I understood that my success was in direct proportion to my effort. The faculty and staff were there to encourage you, but ultimately it is the student's responsibility to accept the challenge of earning an education. My teachers were amazing and I feel fortunate to have had their support and wisdom. Now, as a Mother of 2 in the CCPS school system, I work to ensure their success as students and am thankful for the dedicated staff. I now have an incredibly successful career with a Fortune 500 Co. that allows me experience things I never dreamed possible. My formative education in the CCPS system undoubtedly helped to shape my work ethic and is a driving force in my decision to have my children educated within the Cecil County Public School System. Thank You! Yvonne Cole
I am currently a student at EHS, to look our situation positively i would state- 'It could be worse', but to tell you the truth i really do not like EHS. Academically the school is horrible. I have had very few teachers who have actually taught me, in most classes I usually have to teach myself. The majority of the teachers do not care about helping the students learn.
As a 2003 graduate of Elkton High School I feel that, I too, should post my thoughts.I attended EHS for all four of my high school years and loved every day of it!All teachers and staff, as well as the principal, show a high level of respect for their students and are concerned with the well-being and success of each student. Teachers often offer after school help to those who are struggling. In fact, they helped me to graduate!I can't begin to express how thankful I am for that!As for school violence, it isn't as bad as what everyone makes it out to be. Teachers and staff keep a look out for signs of violence and take the steps needed to help prevent it.They deal with violence in a very well manner and give the appropriate discpline. They do what they can to protect us as students.
Elkton High School is the most diverse high school in Cecil County. The teachers, in general, are very concerned with the students' learning and behavior. The principal does a decent job of keeping order in the school, even though she isn't very personable and doesn't reach out to the students. I would recommend Elkton High School over any other public schools in the area.
I am a student at Elkton High and am proud to say it. We have excellent staff and students who are all trying to improve in any area we can. Our administrators and teaching staff are doing their best without a doubt. As for the students, some of us could use some work, but that's home training and not in the teachers' job description. (I resent the stereotype of the miscrent 'inner-city' kids, I was born and raised in the city and my parents kept me in check. I refuse to accept that comment as an excuse.) If you think Elkton High is so bad, why don't you come and see if you could do better. (P.S. Tell me Elkton High isn't doing a good job. Look at my grammar.)
Don't let your children go to Elkton High School. This school is worst then a lot of inner city schools considering the fact that 90 percent of the trouble makers are inner city children whom in the recent time migrated here. This school is out of control if I were you, I wouldn't even let my child say 'Elkton High'.
