I have been working at Thomson Estates for 5 years and I have seen the growth that this school has made under our current Principals. There is a very positive attitude among the students and staff. I was disappointed to read some of these comments and wish more parents would spend time in our building to see what a wonderful place it is for our children.

My children have been attending Thomson for the past two years and fortunately they are bright and have done well academically. Despite this I am concerned about the moral of the teachers. Some are so wonderful and caring while others are so pessimistic and this impacts the way they teach. If I could send my kids to private school I would. On a positive note I do feel that TEES does have a wonderful challenge program for those students whom are excelling in certain subjsects and I look forward to my children participating in this program which may help them get through the next few years. The population of students at TEES tends to be less disciplined and much time is spent working with these students. Lack of parent involvement does not help although I think that this may be getting a bit better.

I think that this school rushes the children learning and does not give enough time to learn or grasp what they learn

Thomson is the unfortunate victim of a lack of leadership, mostly from the Board Office. The curriculum is standard for CCPS, with a great group of teachers who care. A small PTA does help, but lack of participation makes it hard to make a difference. My child went to Thomson & now my grandchild goes there. The changes are VERY disappointing. They change Principals or VPs almost every year, add to that a total lack of discipline, lack of parent participation & a Board Office who cannot see the forest for the trees you get Thomson. A great school that is being allowed to fall apart.

Teachers want to teach but due to lack of discipline at home, students disrupt class which makes teaching very difficult. Parents need to get more involved with their kids so the teachers can do their jobs.
