OLPH has been a blessing for our family! My children love their teachers, they are thriving academically, and we feel like the teachers and staff truly care about each student. They have added numerous new clubs and enrichment programs to reinforce what the students are learning. My son loves the robotics club and is learning some pretty cool stuff. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for strong academics, truly personalized attention and authentic Catholic formation. The two priests are wonderful and very involved on a regular basis.
I'm a parent with a wonderful child who as being going to OLPH school for 5 years. The principal plus faculty is great but their are some problems with bullying not major just slight problems. They don't get much homework but my child has advanced so much in her learning.
Great school for the "typical" student, however if your child is "different", be prepared for your child to be ostracized by the other students. While Christian values are taught, they are not always put into practice by the students. Kids here are no different than kids in public schools. Mr. Pellechia, the new principal, has been a huge asset to the school. Most teachers are fantastic, and very caring.
Posted a review in 2012 as a new parent and promised an update. This school has come a long way in a short amount of time. All for the best and still more to come! The transformation of making a solid great school of many years to an above average impressive school in just a year has been a pleasure to witness and our family is proud and blessed to be apart of the OLPH community. Where do I begin? The Principal, of course. Mr. Pellechia only started a year ago, and HE has made a HUGE difference in so many ways. His daughter is in Kindergarten & one on the way! He truly has an "open door" policy of hearing all of our parent concerns and suggestions. Not only has he made a difference, but the School Board and HSA (Home and School Association) have made a progressive, positive impact as well. All are truly committed and work together to make OLPH the best school for your child to thrive academically, spiritually, and socially. The surrounding community involvement (parish and non parish) is amazing as well. The new Interactive Learning Center or iLC is a must to see. It was literally built overnight (during the summer) and has the adaptability to change as our technology changes.
Wonderful school! So many positive changes in the past couple of years. This school is really moving in the right direction. We love the families and feel so blessed that our kids have good friends who share our same family values.
We feel like we are part of an extended family at OLPH School! The teachers and staff are very dedicated to their students, and they expect involvement from the parents as well. They are strict with behavior but it leads to good self-discipline for the kids, and it's a very loving environment.
OLPH is a phenomonal school. The wonderful staff and teachers are extremly attentive to the students in and outside of school. I could not have asked for a better school for my child.
Coming from a public school I wasn't sure what resources a private school would have. I am very impressed with the Principal and the teachers as well as the guidance staff. Overall a good curriculum and a smaller environment for my daughters to excel.
We moved to Maryland from another state and attended another private Catholic school in the area. Academically the school was doing well. However, socially, religiously, fundamentally, and with respect to community the school was lacking. OLPH embraced us as a family and welcomed us with open arms. Principal Pellechia, the administrative assistant, and the teachers are amazing. The atmosphere is welcoming and each child is treated individually with respect and love for who they are and what special gifts/talents they possess. Academically they are on par with the other private Catholic schools in the area. Socially and Religiously they excel. They teach the foundations of what each Christian family would want their children to exemplify and demonstrate to others. Father Erik and Father John are both very involved with the children even in the PreK classroom. We have found a home and look forward to many more years at OLPH school and parish.
OLPH has been great. The 1st time we visited the school, we knew it this was the place for our kids. We registered our daughter that day....and have loved it ever since.
I am a parent of 3 children who have all attended OLPH since kindergarten. The staff fosters not only educational achievement but spiritual enrichment everyday. The new media center and advancements in technology are outstanding. There is a wonderful blend of new and more experienced teachers that keep the curriculum fresh. We are blessed to belong to such a loving and exceptional school community.
I am the parent of 3 children that have attended OLPH since kindergarten. All 3 children have different personalities, different learning styles, etc. In the past years we have seen a consistent move to improve the resources within the school and the further development of the kids. This is evident in the new technology center, and also in the extra curricular activities that have been added. The new principal has be a GREAT addition to the school to move it forward. This school is small, with one class per grade. The size adds to the personal touch and attention, as well as to the family atmosphere. One of my children has graduated and moved on to a private high school. She was placed in all honor classes, and has handled them well. I did give the school 4 stars and not 5, for no other reason than I think as far as education for our kids go, there are always areas to grow and improve. The nice thing at this school is that you have active parents, active school board, engaged faculty and staff who are consistently looking for ways to do just that. Keep up the great work OLPH!!
OLPH School has a wonderful environment which helps children feel safe and loved, which in turn helps them feel more confident and ready to learn. I have two children at the school, who have very different personalities. OLPH does a wonderful job challenging and encouraging both of my children to have them excel at their natural abilities.
I like this school , because we feel very comfortable dealing with every body from the staff . it looks like a big family , and my daughter loves it and loves her teachers. I gave it 5 stars .
OLPH is a unique learning environment. Its small size and caring teachers create a very sincere and focused setting in which our son is thriving after only 2 1/2 weeks of school. The parents also make OLPH more than just a school - it truly is a community. We feel so lucky to have found this incredible school and we couldn't be happier for our son!
Our Lady of Perpetual Help School has been providing an excellent Catholic education for children in Howard County. The community of caring teachers, excellent support staff, dedicated parents and engaged students make OLPH a fantastic investment for a values-based education. I take great splice in knowing that my children can share their beliefs in God and in times of need can turn to prayer. OLPH is an investment worth making even amidst some of the best public education schools in the state.
Learning more than ABC's and 123's. This is my daughter's third year at OLPH (1st grade) and every year continues to get better. Wonderful school with extended parish community. OLPH embraces parent involvement and welcomes diversity!
I can't say enough great things about OLPH! The staff, principal and Pastor provide a wonderful, loving environment for the children. There is such positive energy at the school right now. The parents are willing to get involved in every aspect of school life, the teachers are coming up with fresh, new ideas to keep the children engaged and excited, and the principal is very dedicated to the school, staff and children. If you are looking for a loving, caring environment for your children, I highly recommend OLPH!
We have two children currently attending OLPH and we could not be more pleased. It is a wonderful community with an extremely dedicated staff. We love all the improvements that have been made over the last couple of years. We are confident our children are getting a quality education in a caring, supportive environment.
worst school ever! It is not diverse and if your not catholic they dont treat you right! Mean children who don't even care about religon!
