Goshen elementary is a great school. Parents involvement in PTA programs and teachers effort to deliver better education for students are outstanding.
The Goshen ES community of teachers and administrators truly care about your child's safety, security, happiness and academic and social success. We have a diverse population of childrent which is wonderful because it teaches us all more about ourselves and others. These kids will be running the country when we retire, the more comfortable they are embracing one another's srengths and differences, the more success they will enjoy and the more secure we will be in our retirement.
The entirety of this school, is excellent!! I wish the school went up to grade 12.. I love everything about the school. The staff, teachers, cleaniness, e.tc.. This is my child last year with this school. He attended since kindergarten (4yrs) and now 10..wow. i will truly miss Goshen, but will recommend it to others..Thanks Goshen for all the time and effort you have bestow in my son's education
Good school, great teachers, PTA and programs. Unfortunately, the middle and high schools are not that great here. We have four more years until my son graduates from Goshen elementary then we are moving out of this area...
My child is graduating in a couple of weeks from Goshen and I can confidently say that the academic and social experiences that she has experienced had have been outstanding. My daughter has been encouraged and supported to be in advanced classes and I have never felt that the homework load for ever was too cumbersome or extreme. As with any school Goshen is faced with a very diverse population which I can only assume would make it challenging for any educator. Amazingly the teachers at Goshen have mastered this diversity and thus accommodate all intellectual and skill levels.
We have a student in 4th grade this year. Goshen elementary is in decline. The highschool Gaithersburg High is not good at all. Lately, the biggest frustration has been the amount of Math homework. We are not able to keep up when we spend 2 to 3 hours on it Monday thru Saturday. Other Parents in the class are saying the some thing. These are all sharp kids with very supportive Parents. I know the school is desperate to get higher test scores, but 3 hours of Math each night is not the solution.
Goshen is an excellent school . Our son is now on his second year and we are very pleased with his progress. Class sizes are larger than we would like (approx 18 students) but this has been more than compensated for by the skill, enthusiasm and clear dedication of the teachers and principal. In our experience, the students are all very well behaved , sociable and respectful. We see this both in the school as well in the behavior of children out of school (many of whom live nearby and we see regularly). I am completely comfortable with my child remaining at Goshen and look forward to the coming years there.
I've had children at this school for 5 years and have watched this school decline. So many more children who need extra help that children who are on grade level or above get less time with the teacher. More and more problems with discipline, language, respect and authority. I'm disappointed because there are quite a few great teachers at this school! But they can only do so much with what they are given. Class sizes are increasing as well. Ms. King, the principal, has her hands full. Parent involvement is half of what it was 5 years ago and declining. So sad. The middle and high school options in this district are not good either, so we're moving.
The Principal, Mrs King takes keen interest and we certainly are happy with the progress made by our daughter
Goshen is an excellent school. My son and I loved his 2nd grade teacher. She challenged him with work beyond his grade level and his reading and math improved, he was reading way beyond his grade level. Ms. King, the principal is excellent and is really involved with the teachers and students. She so caring and is all about the children and their needs. At the beginning of this school year, they changed bus locations in my neighborhood. Ms. King took the time to meet the parents at the bus stop on the first day of school to address any concerns and to make sure the children arrived safely...as you see exceptional service.
