Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This is in response to a parent that took their child out of Kinder at Calvery after just 4 months. I'm amazed such an in-depth conclusion could be reached after that short amount of time. Many parents that have children with behavioral problems like to consider them as 'creative & out going' when they can actually be disruptive and rude. My daughter attened there for 7 yrs and graduated in 2007 - she is a very creative and talented & Calvary completely encourage that in her . She's now in college studing to be a teacher herself. Thank you Calvery for the attention, time & caring you give to the children that attend there. Parents that are 'hands-on' with their children truly appreciate the decipline, (and no my child was never spanked or hit by the school or her family). Calvery was wonderful in bringing my daughter closer to the Lord.

My daughter attended Calvary K-4 through 3rd grade. I only pulled her out due to the expense as a single Mom (rough decision). We miss Calvary Baptist Church Academy! My daughter grew spiritually and academically during that time frame and will carry the lessons with her throughout her life. She's been in public school for 2 years and it is quite challenging ... structure is so important in all of our lives, mainly children, and Calvary helps with this, public school, not so much. Struggles with discipline occur in every school, matters are handled efficiently & effectively at Calvary. The teachers care & it shows in their hard work. I'm not sure what the other parents mean by stating it's not a loving environment, 8 years later & my daughter is still talking about how wonderful every single teacher was and describes in detail the fun she had at Calvary.

I will be pulling my child from this school after this school year because of it's inability to effectively deal with bullies. When I brought the issue to the attention of the teacher, the bully was simply told to stop. Of course the bullying escalated. With no help from the teacher my child finally became fed up and retaliated, then the teacher blamed my child for part of the problem! So that's the way they handle bullies, wait until the victim is fed up and does something, then they can blame them both and forget about it. We live around the corner from a good school, but I paid for my child to go here to avoid situations like this, of course I'm extreamely disappointed. I can not recommend this school. Don't waste your money.

My daughter currently atends Calvary and is in her 3rd year. She has had some great teachers who are very proactive in their students. We pulled her from public school at the insistance of some of her teachers who said she was above the system and needed to get a better education. I am so glad we made this decision , she now plays an instrument, learned how to draw, reads regularly and just keeps going. Thank you Calvary!

I am currently attending Calvary. It is a wonderful school with excellent Biblical reviews and academics. I have been attending calvary for 8 years and it hasn't 'brainwashed' me. I personally think all the stricty rules has made me more respectful and responsible. Most parents don't think Calvary will not academically challenge their students which is not tture. I am academically two years ahead of the average teen in my grade and can start taking college courses next year. Calvary not only prepares you mentally but spiritually. There are also a lot of electives that can be taken at Calvary like art, sports, and drama. If you really want your child to have a good eduaction and have a good realationship with God then you willl consider calvary for your child.

My child was a kindergarten student at Calvery and I pulled him out after 4 mos. They don't encourage little children to have personalities or be themselves. They believe that all of them should act like little 'cloons' or 'soliders'. There's no creativity or fun within the class room. If your child is outspoken or can communicate well for their age, that's frowned upon, they are pushed aside and told that they are not obeying or are being defiant. This makes little children think that they are bad or that they have done something wrong, when they haven't. When you have concerns about your childs progress, the teachers take offense if you question their character/teaching style. The administration and staff are unprofessional and rude. Pls send your children to a school that provides a loving environment, they enjoy learning, and can be a child.

I was a student from 9-12 and my education experience was horrible. I wasn't prepared for the outside world. I do not recommend this school.

My son attended Calvary Baptist Church Academy for 4 years, and I pulled him after 3rd grade. A child needs to have a childhood, Calvary does not promote independent thinking for this to be possible. He is now enrolled in another private school, with Perfect fundamentals, excellent curriculum and he Enjoys going to school each day. Let children be children, they learn so much more when they are happy and learning in a fun atmosphere.

I attend Calvary from K-5 to 12th grade. I am not a Baptist, or a religious person but the education that I received here was tremendous. They do have strict rules, but they do not brainwash you. The school is a Baptist school and they do not hide that fact. I knew what I believed going into my education and that did not change. I went on to graduate from a state college with a 3.8 GPA and am currently enrolled in graduate school in a state school with a 4.0 GPA. I contribute this directly to the education I received from Calvary.

My daughter has attended Calvery Baptist since the sixth grade. We have been very happy with the academics, as well as the overall experience she has had there. Whenever I had a concern I was listened to, and action was taken with kindness and understanding. The friends she has there are intelligent, warm and loving. As for the few negative comments I have read here such as 'cult like', a personal relationship with Christ would cure those feelings/fears for you. I pray you will find that soon, it's so much more important than worrying about not conforming to a dress code or what's on TV and the radio.

As a child, I attended Calvary. I was there for 7, 8 and 9th grades. Now that I look back, I wish I had stayed. Anyway, I have both of my daughters at Calvary. One is going into 5th, and the other into 1st. I started my oldest in K-4 and my youngest in K-3. Their educations are outstanding. Both on the Honor Roll. My 2 step children are in public and I can see a big difference in their education compared to my daughter's. The only complaint I have is that I think the class sizes are too large. My children like it there and most important, love the Lord.

i have two children that attended calvary and two more on there way to attending calvary. when i moved out of state briefly, my children tested 2 years ahead of there age and my son 3 yrs in math. they are well rounded academically and spiritually. those parents who call it brainwashing need to remember they are sending there children to a baptist based school and it will teach their beliefs and if they dont want them to learn about the Lord and the schools beliefs they should consider sending their children to public school. these types of parents are those who want to keep their children out of public schools but adapt public school beliefs. as for the dress code on the weekend thing--thats just rediculous--i never heard of such a thing.

I currently have 3 children enrolled in Calvary Baptist Church Academy and I will tell you that they are all achieving above and beyond for their grade level against any public school. The most important thing to remember is that the children who are attending this school are learning much more than math, science, etc., they are learning how to treat others, the glory of God's word and most importantly respect for themselves. We are blessed to have such dedicated and devoted teachers to watch over and teach our children during the day!

I have a sister in this school, she has attended for over 7 years now and the total transformation has been unreal. However, not necessarily good. The problem with this school is simply the unbelievable cult-like status given out by the administration and teachers alike. To use the word 'brainwashed' is not an over exaggeration. They simply believe they are right because GOD is working directly to them and they tell you everything you do is wrong. They tell you what you can watch on TV, what you can listen to on the radio, and what you can and cannot wear. If a teacher sees you in the mall, on a Saturday they can give you a demit for dressing a certain way, even on non-school days during non-school hours. Along with the fact there education seems lacking extremely behind that of other schools, I do not recommend Calvary Baptist.

Calvary has a wide variety of opportunites available to all students. They have a broad athletic and fine arts program. The last four graduating classes have an average of 80% or higher attending colleges. The kindergarten and 1st grade classes (my child's) are ranked in the top 90-95% in SAT testing. I am very pleased with the results of my child's upbringing in the education field and in their spiritual lives. I have found the teachers and administration open to my concerns and complaints. I would highly recommend this school from preschool through the 12th grade. I believe the school's growth and enrollment speak about the quality of education.

I have 2 children who attended Calvary. The last one graduated in 2000. Both attended Calvary for thier entire school career. The best feedback that I can give, is that now as young adults, both have come to me and thanked me for thier education. As they have entered college and the workforce, they have noticed that most of thier peers are not as prepared academically as they are. They feel better equipt to face the struggles that life brings because of the self discipline that they have been taught. Calvary consistantly taught them to trust God and to work hard at what they do. The teachers have remained active in the kids lives, even now, years later. I am thankful for Calvary and glad that I made the sacrifice to send them there. Tricia Warfield

My son went here for 7 years K5-6th grade. My daughter also went here for 1 year, K5. For the most part, it was okay, but administration was unpleasant to deal with, and at times extremely unfair. What they believe to be true cannot be questioned or challenged. Their way is right your way is wrong, end of sentence.
