Bushy Park is a wonderful elementary school, the teachers are wonderful, caring and do a great job of preparing students for middle school and beyond. More importantly, they helped instill a love of learning!

I am currently a seventh grade student at Glenwood Middle School and I found that Bushy Park played a big role in helping me get ready for middle school. My brother goes to Bushy and he loves it!

I left Bushy Park this year, and I'm feeling well and prepared for a fresh start in Middle School. The teachers, principal, and VP are very encouraging. The programs BPES has are great, and I encourage future BPES students to participate in them.

This is my son's first year at Bushy Park and the 1st grade teachers and staff have been wonderful getting him adjusted to 'real' school.

We are parents of a 2nd & 5th frader at BP. We are extremely pleased with the challenging curriculum opportunities and exceptional extracurricular activities, and School PTA/Parent involvement! The new school is State of The Art for a public school (and light years ahead of the old, smaller 'open classroom' facility it replaced). We were also extremely pleased with the Principal and staff in how they handled an issue our 2nd grader was having. I grew up in Howard County and know the exceptional standards that the County has created and has to live up to. Maybe I'm a 'softie' (which my colleagues may suggest is impossible!), but we could not be more pleased with the school, community, and quality of life in Glenwood!

After 4 years at a private school in Ellicott City, we were delighted with our daughter's math and language arts teachers, violen instruction, and the handling of a situation in the beginning of the school year by the principal. While the school does focus on how to increase standardized test scores throughout the year, the learning materials as well as the staff and students create an environment for success.

We have a child in 1st grade and so far are not impressed with this school. The curriculum is unimaginative and uninspiring. The principal seems preoccupied with her reputation and the schools ranking, whether or not the students are getting the most nourishing education seems to be secondary. The teachers and principal are slow to identify and communicate learning issues/problems and reluctant to adapt to help. If your kid is not disruptive but could benefit from a little additional help/attention you re out of luck. For the most part the kids at Bushy Park would perform well, but instead of taking advantage of the well prepared population to introduce innovate and inspiring teaching opportunities they chose to teach to the standardized tests using endless reams of dittos. We came from the Worthington School in Ellicott City and found it to be a much more nurturing environment.
