I am a student at St. Hugh's and I loved my experience. I made great friends, had a great principal, accompanied by great, compassionate teachers. The school was small, which provided a great learning environment with individual attention for each and every student, like myself! Any way, the Principal, Mrs. James, took her time to make sure I'd enjoyed every single day. I loved my semester, and hope to come again next year.

The small environment, the diversity of students who attend, and the willingness of the teachers and administration to engage parents makes St. Hughs a wonderful school. If you are interested in ensuring that your children remain kids, and that their innocence stay in tact for as long as possible, then St. Hughs is the place to send your child. Additionally, for parents with shy children which was my situation, the small environment and individual attention from the teachers allowed my son to flourish and now he is very outgoing and comfortable with his peers. Simply put...I love this school.

St. Hughs remains a terrific school in spite of several changes over the past year. There is a new, young, energetic principal who is bringing real administrative excellence, but who is at the same time rubbing some long-time families the wrong way (sometimes change is hard to accept apparently). Also, two long-term middle-school faculty members left and had to be hastily replaced. One of these teachers (science) did not work out very well and won't be back. The other has brought the math program to a higher level than it has been recently. This in a school known for extreme math/science achievement. The school admin and the lower grades are definitely 5 stars. The 1 year issue in the middle school brings down my rating to 4 stars, but I expect the school to recover next year.

While the elementary school is still a very excellent school with wonderful and dedicated teachers - the middle school is not up to the standard that we as parent of St Hugh's have come to expect at this school. The math, science and social studies programs are well below the standards that are expected form a catholic school. If I wanted this type of education I would have sent my child to public school. The language arts program is excellent and well above what is normally taught - Mrs Baum is an excellent teacher and introduces the children to all types of literature.

I would highly recommend St. Hugh's for any parent who is looking for an elementary/middle school with an exception learning environment. Families do not have to be Catholic to attend St. Hugh'sveryone is welcome and tuition assistance is available. We moved our two children (4th and 7th grade) to St. Hugh's from public school and are extremely pleased with our decision. The class sizes are relatively small, so students receive a great deal of attention from the teachers. It's a very safe and nurturing environment for children. Both of our children are doing extremely well at St. Hugh's and look forward to school every day! In addition to the academics, they also participate in band, choir, and sports. St. Hugh's is like an extended family, with many wonderful teachers and a very energetic principal! We are looking forward to returning next year!!

St. Hugh's offers diversity and I'm pleased with their academic program. My daughter is in the third grade now, and Mrs. Van Den Bossche is a wonderful teacher. Moreover, my child is being challenged enough for me to say that she is receiving a top notch education here!

I LOVE St.Hugh's. The teachers are fantastic and the principal is wonderful. The classes challenge you but aren't impossible. The teachers are helpful and they understand are troubles. I never want to leave!

Our two children have flourished over the years at St. Hugh's! Our older child is now in Catholic High School after having been accepted at two schools and having been offered scholarships to both! What really sets this school apart is the sincere dedication of the teachers and staff in seeing that the students succeed academically, spiritually, and morally. Although the school itself is dated and not modern and shiny, remember that 'beauty is skin deep'; it's whats inside that counts! This school is free from 'trouble-makers' and class disruption which enables all students to learn good work and study habits. Having a school of students whose parents really care is also a verty strong point. For some reason (which I have yet to understand why) our school gets reviews through the 'gossip circuit' when compared with our neighboring Catholic schools; however, this actually works in the students favor as oursizesasmallerindividualistocby.WepleasedSt.

St. Hugh's is one of the best-kept secrets in the area. It has a small, nurturing environment, excellent instruction, and above average extracurricular activities. There is one class per grade, each averages 20-25 students. Teachers are, on balance, extremely good and several have been recognized with prestigious awards. Teacher / staff turnover is much lower than other schools in the area. The curriculum is broad, very broad for a school of this size, and includes a full PE program (indoor/outdoor), arts program, music program, Latin instruction, a complete computer lab, and a wealth of extracurricular activities (competitive sports, drama, recitals, etc) with individual instructors dedicated to these disciplines. Tuition has been kept relatively low through high-levels of involvement and volunteerism by parents. This parent community is comprised of a unique mix of NASA scientists, professors, engineers, teachers, writers, etc who often bring exciting experiences and opportunities to the school.
