I have nothing but the best to say about this school. I am a grandparent who has had guardianship for 1 year. When my grandchild transferred from out of state she was in 5th grade at age 12.She had a reading level of 2nd-3rd grade. 2 weeks after starting, ALL of the teachers called us in for a conference. My GC was failing everything, partly due to past issues and LD. By the end of the year, she had increased her lexile scores by 400 pts. When she left Spring Garden for middle school, her skills had improved enough so that after 1 grading period in 6th grade, she was elevated to 7th grade. Teachers were very caring and involved.

Several changes have transpired since my first child started to attend SGE. The administrative staff and the PTA board. Both have not been for the betterment of the school, unfortunately! When my eldest first started in SGE in 2004, i could not have asked for a better school. Now, the administrative staff (principal, assistant principal, etc...) show a great lack of caring for the children. Its all about the test scores and "perception"of the school. Had my eldest not have had so many friends in the school i would have had him/her removed. Now my youngest is going through and i can only hope that he/she picks up more of an education than the later. The 4th/5th grade science teacher can not properly teach the children and they are trying to fix it, but its too late for a lot of children who have fallen by the wayside. Its a shame....

My grandson has shown such a great growing up while attending this school always spelling out words and doing math and word recognition.

SGE is a wonderful place. The school spirit is unbelieveable! The teachers are very commited to the students as well as the Principal(I've seen her work one on one with students on reading and other classwork)There are always Parent volunteers to help the teachers out so the teachers can focus more on the students than having to make copies and put things together which takes away from important studies.

I have 2 children in SGE, and am thrilled. The educators go above and beyond their duties, and all strive for excellence. My children not only learn, but are also helped with emotional distress and peer pressure. Anyone would be lucky to enroll their child in this school.

I have a student in his second year at SGE, and I have seen dramatic improvement in his work. It has been my experience that each student is put in a position where they are constantly challenged to learn more. Students must think 'outside the box' and defend their answers in class discussions. Teachers work closely with students to monitor progress, and make changes to class assigments as needed to ensure that students maximize their learning experience. In addition, the parent involvement is very high. The PTA is actively involved in raising money for the school, to make sure that the students get the extra materials needed for school, and summer enrichment classes. We have been extremely pleased thus far, and look forward to four more years of learning at Spring Garden.

Spring Garden Elementary has gone downhill because of the lack of leadership and the working atmosphere created by the current principal and vice principal. This has created a loss of core teachers that once were the backbone of this school. There is a lack of forethought and rules change depending on the mood of the day. This has been the school for 3 of my children and I have watched it deteriorate before my eyes.
