Yes it is true if you child wants to do well they will. But, that being said, I feel that the school is not great. Our daughter was allowed to make up homework repeadedly even though she didnt deserve to. This was in about four classes. Teachers would use foul language in the class room. The chemistry class final allowed the kids to us there notes.....PLEASE!!!! Is this teaching kids any kind of responsibility and do they think there college professors are going to allow this. It is only setting them up to fail big time.

If your child has support from home, and wants to do well, they will do very well in this school. Excellent peer groups are available here if your child is active and involved academically and/or with Sports. Im very happy we chose this school over John Carroll. Our children are well adjusted intelligent future leaders.

Very small school. However, the teachers seem to know all the kids by name. My son recently graduated there and did quite well. The sports are great and he stayed involved the whole year. I have a daughter going into the 10th grade. She is very happy there. I have no concerns.

This is a small high school, which I really like. The teachers know the students and make sure the parents are kept informed about progress. Those students who want to succeed will get all the help they need.

We chose this school because of its small size. The test scores on this website showed improvement from previous years and comparable to Bel Air schools. We are a military family and have moved our kids many times. Our 2 teenagers have not felt threatened in any way and though there are those kids that have drug issues like all schools, it hasn't adversely affected our kids. However, because of the small close knit community, my kids had a difficult time getting connected in the sports arena. We feel they were unfairly benched because they are new to the community and administration had to be involved. There seems to be a kind of a 'good o'boy' mentality. We also had a hard time getting them registered over the summer-no one was ever available-AP classes were more limited than the website let on.

This is a small, old school building, probably the poorest-built school in Harford. Cameras are installed around every corner; is that a good sign do you think? There are plenty of intelligent and cool people here, but that number is matched with an equal amount of TRASH; the ridiculously rich and poor. The people that have a problem with you no matter who you are; not to mention lot's of 'gangstas' and their wannabe counterparts. It's ridiculous. The lead gossip is 'who's in what gang' and 'who fought who' and 'who ripped who off'; OR, if they are some of the rich snobs, it's 'who did WHO?' and 'oh my god, i lost my phone!' and 'omg, look at all these gangstas! lets call them names!'. There is a reason the place isn't growing. Maybe if they tried to actually appeal to a good standard of life, there'd be less depression..

I am currently a student at Havre de Grace High School and, take it from me, it is a top-notch, diverse and insightful place to learn. It offers a number of AP classes to chose from and our English Dept. is beyond compare. It's a small school with limited extra curricular activities, but I value the superb education I recieve at HHS.

I love HHS. It's a fun and exciting place to be and offers tons of opportunities to the students who attend. Scholarships and clubs are only a few of the great things at HHS, I love every day I'm there!

This is a very small school. The smallest in Harford County, but because of this everyone is very close. They also know each others buisness which can be good and bad.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Maryland used the Maryland High School Assessments (HSA) to test students in English 2, Algebra, and Biology upon completion of each course. The HSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maryland. Students are required to pass the tests in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
