I have a son who attends HES. He is in his second year now. Compared to the first school my son attended I give HES a 10 hands down. The teacher's have been wonderful thus far and there has always been a good line of communication. The IEP/504 team is pretty good. There have been times when I felt that the meetings are a little one sided, but overall they are willing to listen and try to be accomidating. They are very good about allowing parents to be fully involved with the school, which was something we did not get at the old school.
This school has the best teaching staff I have ever seen! My daughter has grown so much in the past 4 years! WAY TO GO!
My son is autistic and has ADHD and they have the best special ed program thank you
I have done 5 months of research on different schools before we moved. You see my son has Dyslexia and this school has the best IEP Team I have ever seen. We put him in a private school for 2 years thinking he would benefit from the one on one but that only made things worse. Needless to say, I don't know what we would have done if we didn't have the awesome staff here at Huntingtown Elementary working with him. They even showed me how to work with him at home. Thank you to all of you for making my son's life a lot easier not only with academics but with his self confidence as well. To see how much the staff is involved just shows me how much they really care! Reading is everything, and now my son can read!
As far as instruction and achievement this is an outstanding school. It would be nice if more after school activities were offered such as a sports program. The parents are very involved and there are many volunteers. The parking situation at the school needs to be improved. There is not adequate parking. The parents come to pick their children up in the evenings and there is no where to park.
I went to Huntingtown when I was a child and I am thrilled to see it still going strong. The teachers and administration of this school are wonderful. I loved everyday there and I think they motivated all of us to learn from everything!
