I am a student at Hyattsville Middle School. They have changed so many things that I dont like. Now that there is a new principal. The boys and girls are seperated at lunch. The teachers now walk you to your classes in a straight line. You can only go to your locker three times a day. For 7th Graders u visit Before school, Before 4th mod, and After school. For the 8th Graders. u visit your lockers Before school, Before 3rd Mod, and After school. (After they call your bus u go to your locker for both grades.) The lockers are very very skinny but pretty tall. There is no uniform there but I suggest going to Nicholas Orem middle school. All of the rumors about that school are not true. The teachers are nice and the people. Hopefully you have read the whole thing lol.

When I think of happiness, those very defining moments of my life are held within these halls.

I gave this school three stars because of my child's very mixed experience here. The CPA program was excellent. The principal ran school like a maximum security prison and was only available in cases of discipline problems. Other than CPA teacher, Mr. Coleman of chorus at the time, there were only 3 teachers who took time and care with students. As a result, my student who partcipated a lot in class could skate by. Result was her study habits became poor and she went from Honor Roll student there to below 3.0 freshmen year at private school. Yes, we monitored her homework. This year, 25 teachers were let go because they weren't good enough, principal and assistant principal are gone.Total chaos. They do have quarterly opportunities to meet with all your children's teachers one morning per quarter. ATTEND IT! Only way to get any feedback re your student.

I attended Hyattsville Middle School in the 06-07 and 07-08 years.I was in CPA in band under the direction of Mr Cutler.I am now a senior at Parkdale High School and will graduate June 2011.I've read articles of how there might not be any more Creative and Performing Arts.I don't like that idea because Hyattsville Middle School without the CPA program.I loved being in band my years in middle school as we participated in Fiesta-val and showed everyone what we had practiced all year long.Other then that the other cpa programs are very good as well. I miss Hyattsville,it was my second home.

I went to this school for my 7th and 8th grade years. I am now a 9nth grader. I was in CPA art. It was a great experience. It helped me get where I am now, in the VPA program in my high school for art as well. I miss Hyattsville Middle.

I am a student at Hyattsville. Recently a boy died from cancer at our school. Creative writing, band, orchestra, chorus, theater lab,and dance put on a benifit concert for his family to take him back to Guatemala. Also we are currently raising money for the Haiti earthquake victims. But also the reason I rate Hyattsville 5 star is because you always feel like you are in a family. Even though I didn't know the boy I still got teary eyed as our vice principal told us at lunch what happened and what we were doing for him. She talked about him like he was a son or a family memeber. Our Creative and Performing arts program is actually under review right now because of money from prince georges county. But they do not see what this program holds. It makes a kid have something to hold onto forever. Going to county festaval, thats something great.

I currently attend the school. I want to be a famous actor when i grow up so i join the theatre program. I've learn so much and gives you somewhat training. Hyattsvills give you indivuality and some of the teachers are cool. Hyattsville makes sure that the students are smart and rewarded with a honor roll assembley to honor the people who have a 3.0 or higher. Being at hyattsiville I've made alot of friends and foes. But i always have a guidance ciucler there for you. I love this school and i will miss it when i leave.

This school is very good!! I'm a current 7th grader and I am enjoying it. I am struggling in math because of a family trip during the school year but my math teacher is very understanding and explains things in a way that she connects to the students. As for the CPA (Creative and Performing Arts program), it's really worth it. I am a transfer student because I was able to pass the audition to get into the choral program and it is amazing! I love this school and I will never forget it.

The CPA (Creative Performing Arts) program at this school is excellent. I was a part of the choral program for two years and the trips that the CPA took were amazing. You travel a lot, so it's a great learning experience. As for academics, I learned a great deal of algebra and science, which is why I am now attending a Sci/Tech program at a different school. The teachers I had were patient with teaching and explained things wonderfully. This school also allows for many social activities, ranging from school dances to ice cream socials and T-shirt signing.
