I went to MHMS for one year and it was a decent school. They were very strict on rules which is good especially when there were conflicts. MHMS had a good mix of older teachers and new teachers so you have hard teachers and easier teachers but in the end you always learned something. The guidance department was great at solving your problems. Administration knew when to enforce certain rules and kept mhms safe. There are some things for MHMS to change but in the end its not a that bad of a school to be at.

The school is very great, but they have very petty rules! Like holes in jeans is one day of ISR and the next time its suspension. Like this year when Obama got voted for president, if we asked who did you vote for we would be in trouble. My mom wasn't surprised when she put me in this school. She said that I had changed I never act ed like I acted. When attending MHMS, you have to make sure your with the right crowd. But other than that the school is okay for itself, just give it a try. =)

MHMS was an amazing school when I attended there. I was promoted in 2004 and I just graduated(08). I am currently studying abroad in egypt and I still remember my middle school days. The staff cared so much for the students and the administration was on top of every problem. Mattew Henson was one of the top rated school in the state. I participated in the Student Government Association and it was not only a blast but very beneficial for me and we accomplished many things for the school. My father was head of the ParentTeacher Association and the teachers loved him and he did a lot for the school also. He loved me school very much. I was checking the MHMS website and it seems they do not have a current PTS...well atleast the website doesnt say anything about it...unfortunately...

I've just been promoted from Henson, and I loved it there. I loved my teachers, admins, and staff memebers. My guidance counselor, Mr. Clybourn, was the best anyone could ask for. The teachers were very caring, fun, but also enforced rules and made sure we were getting a good education. I never felt unsafe or insecure during my 3 years there. I found the classes challenging enough to make me think beyond how I usually thought. The teachers were always willing to give you extra help if you were struggling, even giving up their lunch and planning periods. I was in the National Junior Honor Society, and I loved it. Our sponsors, Mr. Parpart and Ms. Lloyd, were amazing. Officer Vainou always made sure we were safe and protected. The admins encouraged us to do our best and didn't put us down when we didn't. I loved going here.

i went to this school in the 6th grade. it may seem like i am 'bashing' the teachers, but they really didnt know what they were doing. Most of my teachers graded too losley and many people struggled the next years since they got higher placements than they could comprehiend. Our principal gave us little information about upcoming events. It needs much more work to the staff, students, & GPA average of the school.

Low parental involvement. Very sad that their internet site has not been undated and corrected for years. Little to no communication with the parents.
