I am a parent with two children in Archbishop Neale School. They have both been there since Pre-K. My oldest is now in middle school there. We have not had any problems with the school that have not been addressed immediately and taken care of in a manner that we have found acceptable. Since the school has been rebuilt after the tornado, they have taken many steps to keep it looking like new. The teachers are available by e mail and have always responded immediately. We live in King George County VA and choose to bring our children to ANS. Many of my neighbors are choosing to home school their children because of the school system here in VA. I am glad we have another option. Our commute is not far. There are lots of parents in MD that travel farther than us. We carpool with several families and only drive 2 times a week. (20 miles in each direction) The carpool has made us fast and long lasting friends. The children get to pass on their knowledge to the younger children as well.

My daughter transferred here to the 3rd grade from another School. She loves the Teacher's and didn't have a problem fitting in, she has been here for 3 years now. It's a great environment.

ArchBishop Neale School, it's one of the best schools in Southern Maryland. Without a doubt it proves private schools are the way to go. Your child dosen't just become another student, he/she becomes apart of the ANS family. It offers a lot ad pepares children grades pk-8 about life, and even more togtherness. So, with my conclusion your child will benifiet from going to ANS I promise.

Archbishop Neale School has a wonderful sense of community and has been in La Plata for 80+ years. Their graduates have been well prepared for high school and beyond. They are also a faith-filled community that performs service to the surrounding area.

Just started at ANS this year with my 6 year old. Overall, the school and the teachers are fine, but the school start time is RIDICULOUS! My 6 year old starts at 7:30! Which means that he needs to be up at 6:30 to eat breakfast, get dressed and have some time with us before we go out the door at 7:00. He is grumpy when we go to pick him up in the afternoon, which indicates to me that most of the day has been pretty bad for him. Several times he has had to take a nap when he got home, which then makes him want to go to bed later (8:30 pm), which then makes him grumpier in the morning. Clearly, the start time is for parents who are commuting, not for these kids.

I went to ANS from pre-k to 8th and I say it's the best elementry school in Southern Maryland. Yess, in all the counties. It has amazing teachers, great morals, a sense of communty, and people actually listen to what you have to say. People say the junior high teachers are the worst, but thats not right. They got me ready for highschool and the real world, and without them IDK who I'd be. So thanks to you guys. thanks ANS!!! Without you idk where I'd be. My high school grades are amazing and have a very promising life just because of the ANS faculty and staff! :)

My children have completed Pre-K and Kindergarten at ANS. The school offers a good sound academic foundation. The parents are very involved and the teachers are responsive.

Archbishop Neale School is great. Im in 9th grade, and i never knew how much I would miss it. I went to ANS from Kindergarten through 8th grade. It's hard not to be involved with sports there, the basketball games especially, are so much fun. We have a great athletic program. There are so many activities to chose from. We help other communities out, and our school is very close, it's hard not to know everybody. The teachers are great, they talk to you, and help you out for everything. Everyone gets along, even if you aren't friends with a certain person, you still feel like family because you have been with them possible for 10 years! In my opinion, it's a great choice of school in Charles County, probably the best!

I attended ANS from first to eighth grade and LOVED it. I learned so much and the majority of the teachers were great. Due to the small class size and wealth of knowledge from the teachers at ANS, my skills were much higher than those of the public school children. I would recommend ANS to anyone who inquires. When I have children of my own, I plan to send them to private school due to my experiences.

I went to school here since the fourth grade and I enjoyed every year. They prepared me for the struggles of high school and helped to develop good leadership habits. I was not the greatest student however I found my way and was able to keep in the honor roll for all five years. It is a great school if you plan to send your student to a private high school and ANd gives you a great sense of community.

My child attended ANS grades K-4. I found that the teachers fostered children who did well and neglected those who struggled. I did point this out to a grade 2 teacher that all display items on parents night were done same 6 students. I found as much motivation information in Parents Magazine. No field trip opportunities, little extra-curricular and high tuition. I found it was better for my child at Mitchell Elementary. Now I struggle with deciding on where to send my littlest ones, both of which are exceptionally bright, and find that ANS may be my best option. The local public elementary schools are certainly lacking. Tough choices.

I attended ANS from Kindegarden through 8th grade, as did my younger brother. I feel that this school has done wonderfully in fostering the ideals and fundamentals that are necessary for furthering our education. As most of us who reside in Charles County know, our public school system is one of the worst in the state of Maryland. Attending a private school during my youth taught me to appreciate religion, to respect those around me, to respect myself, and to never give up when it came to academics. Anyone who feels that a public school education during the elementary years will foster their child's development is clearly mistaken. It was very evident when I attended college who had come from a scholastically challenged background from those who hadn't. If that's not cause enough to send your child to a private elementary school, then I don't know what is.

I went to this school from Kindergarten to 6th grade, my review isn't very high, certain teachers single out their favorite students, and if you aren't in that little group, your grades will reflect it no matter how hard you try. Evolution is off limits here too. Your better off sending your kid to a public school in Charles County, they will be alot happier and learn more, trust me.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
