I am new to the school and so far I am fairly pleased. There is another principal and vice-principal there now from what has been said in the past reviews. I do not know why there was a change of principle and vice-principal? There is a big lack of support for the PTO in this school. The lack of support from the parents is very disappointing for the parents who are trying to give support towards their children. When you have 450 plus students in the school and barely 25 parents show up to PTO meetings...that is sad. This school needs more support! The school's exterior and signage needs updating. So far this is an average school with potential if the parents would participate more in their child's school lives.
We love the school, the teachers are warm and friendly, and Mrs. Levilee (Principal) is as wonderful as her reputation.
An amazing school with an amazing staff, the teachers are awesome! This school is one of the best I've encountered with all my travel's throughout the world including DOD school system. I am thankful this school was recommended to us.
My child just finished Kindergarten at Matula. We were very pleased with the quality of teaching and the teachers. The staffs at the school were also very pleasant and professional. I certainly would give a rating much higher than 5 (based on the highest of 10) for the Kindergarten training. I hope my child would experience the same high quality of education and care in the first and higher grades as in previous year.
As a military member, and 'new' to the area I was told this school was the best and it is; both academically and teacher quality. It is a 'Top Flight' school to have your children enrolled in.
We are knew to the area and were told how great Matula was. However, their test scores are simple average and this school only rates a 5 out of 10 academically. There is also major favoritism among administrators and certain parents/children. This school is over-rated and a disappointment.
Matula Elementary School is a blessing to the area, the teachers are awesome! The Principal well what could be said, Principal of the Year! I feel so fortunate to have my son enrolled at Matula. The staff is very supportive and encourages parental involvement to the max.
My children, as well as my husband and myself, love this school. My son loves his Pre-K class and my daughter loves her 2nd grade class. The teachers are wonderful with all of the kids. The staff knows the names of all the children attending the school which just amazes me. We love the teachers as well as the staff. Sadly for us we have to move out of this school's zone - we truly wish our kids could stay at Matula for the last 2 years of our stay in Maryland.
I have a child in the 4th grade and I am very pleased with the professionalism and dedication of the teachers and staff. Matula is a character education school and kids are pushed to do their 'personal best'. One of the main reasons that the school is successful is due to the Principal and her dedication and love of learning.
My daughter went to Matula for two years and the teachers were great the only thing that I did not appreciate was the principal.
