This school is absolutely TERRIBLE. I'm just finishing up being a sophomore and the classes are easy, the teachers don't care and sometimes don't even understand what they are teaching. Some substitutes don't speak English. All focus is put on the average kids, so if you have an advanced child, keep them out of LPHS.
I'm a former student, in fact I transferred to another school system entirely because of how poorly this school conducted itself. The majority of my teachers had no interest in being there, they rarely taught, instead opting to chill out with the students. The school is overcrowded, so much they even have makeshift classrooms with walls made up of cubicle stalls. The administrations only focus is scoring high on standardized exams, I saw a number of instances where students didn't even do work yet they still received A's. In one class, students even terrorized the teacher, an elderly woman, to the point where they threw stuff at her. The schools' solution was to replace her with a fresh-out-of-college teacher, which was not even remotely better. Though I admit, he was a breath of fresh air compared to the numerous lax, unattentive, underpaid teachers the comprise the school staff.
La Plata high school is great. Our daughter Rebecca Meier enjoyed one year as an exchange student with excellent teachers. We are very thankful.
I believe La Plata has the most compassionate staff. Mr Williams really helped me get my son back on track. The dedication of the entire staff was overwhelming and appreciative.
LaPlata is an excellent secondary school. Both my children graduated (2005, 2009) and were well prepared for the rigors of study for college life. La Plata teachers are fabulous; they not only offer a tough curriculum to prepare students for college, but teachers care about the students on a personal level, too. They are always willing to set-aside time to help students !
This is a great school--I am a freshman taking all honors classes as well as the Web design class they offer at La Plata. I highly recommend for its great teaching staff and positive environment.
This school creates a very good environment for learning. Friendly staff and students. Great school
La Plata High is a wonderful High School and the Student body is alittle overcrowed but everyone gets along and the teachers are also great. I've been a student for the last four years and everything has been great.
The school is great. I'm a graduate myself! keep up the good work teachers and faculty.
This school rocks. I just moved here and its alot better than my school in Morrow, Ohio. Alot bigger and the teachers are awesome. The music class is kickin'. Gym is cool. Plus the baseball team is awesome. I love the bands the students are in. I love this school!
