My son attends school at James McHenry. It all depends on the teacher. The principal is hardworking.Problem I have is that some teachers do not grade homework. My son is in 5th grade and the teacher does not grade their maths homework. The students know this. She gives point for doing homework. How can a child be motivated to do homework or even study. However, since no feedback is given, how will the parent or the child know that what they did on the homework is correct?

James McHerny is a very good school, the principal Ms. Handelsman, the staff and teachers are all wonderful role models and leaders. They really care about the children and their education. My family and I really like this school, keep up the good work and support James McHenry.

Generally, I feel that James McHenry is a good school. Ms. Handelsman is a great principal and cares about the kids. She is always willing to put herself out for the student. Getting in a dunking booth and putting on a cougar suit is real love and commitment. There is also a dynamic PTA board at James McHenry. The PTA and the principal work very closely together and have accomplished a lot during the school year 2003-2004. But parent's involvement is much needed at James McHenry.
