I have two children that go to this school and it is amazing! The princapal is wonderful and the teachers really engourage education to be fun! My Kids Always come home and have somyhing positive to say. Fights are a problem but the new principal is trying to fix that. I love this school!!!!
Poor school, overall. Bullying and fighting is terrible here, and staff don't do enough. They seem to turn the other cheek and not make a big deal about it. My son went here and was bullied all three years while the principal and teachers didn't do anything about it! Very dirty school, and teachers seem to just want a paycheck. Find another school if you can!
i love my school it is woderful and i love all my teachers they push us just enough to learn stuff but not hard enough to crack us this is a very good school =]
my daughter just recently transferred from another md county school and i have to say i am not impressed with the curriculum, school safety or her teachers. i have requested two of her teachers to call me for three days and have had no response. Icalled the office and the only thing they say is they will leave a message in their box. I also don't understand how a school can not have enough books for each child. Schools fund raiser you to death so why not one more. Before having the experience in another Md. county I thought the schools here were great but not now after coming back here.
I think that this is an awesome school!
below average school. Rough and rowdy kids. Half of the teachers care the others watch the clock to run out of the building. Principal loves kids but doesnt really allow parent participation. The kids lose out on opportunities due to this.
I think that this school is the best school I've ever went to. If some kids get into a fight, they do suspend them. Some people don't know what they are talking about when they write about my school. My principal is trying to stop all of the bullying that goes on, but it isn't bad at all. why do people have a problem aganist my school? I am in the SCA at this school so I know what goes on at my school, and it is not as bad as everyone says. If they went to our school, they would know. And theachers don't grab the students, whoever wrote that is totally wrong.
I think leonardtown middle school is a terrible school. The whole building is falling apart. All in all this school is absolutely terrible.
I have been very pleased with Leonardtown Middle School. I am a middle school teacher at another school and can honestly say that my 6th grader had incredible teachers this past year. Yes, it is a little crowded, but all of the schools are a bit overcrowded. My daughter had spent a lot of time reading and writing papers. Her math work was very challenging and the projects in science and social studies were very appropriate. I think all middle schools could use more parent involvement. It is always the same groups of parents helping out. As far as some of the other negative comments, my suggestion is be involved and see for yourself. I have taught in two other MD. counties and LMS is like any other middle school. They all have discipline problems because of the age of the students.
My child attends this school and has had a wonderful experience in his first year of middle school. His afterschool activities are wonderful - he regularly attends 3 a week. He loves his science teacher, Ms. Swick, who is very creative and innovative in the classroom. He is challenged in all of his classes. Mr. Guy, the band director, has a wonderful afterschool jazz band program for all of the students. This school is top notch!
