VERY unhappy with this school they do very little to stop bullying. It is a big problem. Some teachers have little control over their classes. The bad kids make it impossible to hear and pay attention! There are tons of good programs but the BAD kids keep the good kids out. There are fights EVERYDAY. And there is a HUGE racial problem. A HUGE THEFT problem which the school does NOTHING about!!!! And parents are just supposed to take it. They don't want to hear from us or our kids.
THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE. Everyone is compared to the STEM students. The STEM is considered a school itself. The food is NASTY. Im in 8th grade this year and QUITE glad that im leaving. In fact im rejocing. The only good thing about the end of the year i the 8th grade dance and Kings Dominion. This school is ghetto.
I think its dissapointing that the teachers all hate the STEM kids. Teachers are jealous of u. I am personally a STEM student and i hate having teachers calling me out for being STEM. If you are not STEM, the teachers don't hate you. My STEM teachers like you. The teachers and students are biased against STEM, but other than that Spring Ridge is a pretty good school.
I am going to the 8th grade. There is alot of ups and downs about this school. First, it is pretty small compared to the other middle school In SMC. The locker rooms could be better, and so could the bathrooms. Some of the teachers are horrible. But others actually work with you and help you. Some teachers are really strict but help you learn alot (Mr sayers). The other students are very fun and good, but others are also ignorant and immature making SRMS Look bad.The AP's are alright. Im not really liking the new principal. This school has alot of room for improvement, but its alright so far.
As a former student of this school i can truly say that i hated it. Some of the faculty did not showed favoritism with the children. The bad thing about it is that they didn't even try to hide it.
The more deviant element walk all over the staff. The staff are constantly allowing bullying and violence at the school and on their buses. The take zero responsibility and are more content to be apathetic and unprofessional when it comes to the students they look after. Further more their academics are subsidiary and a far cry from their sister middle schools in neighboring areas. If you can avoid sending your child(ren) here I urge to please do just that.
As a current student at Spring Ridge, I can fully and honestly say that I believe it is not right to put ANY child through this system. The addition of the new program, STEM, has been in more than one case an issue. The school has very segregated and biased points of view forced upon the attendents not by the teachers, but by the students. Honestly, walking through the hallways every morning is a challenge in itself. Having to aviod the stare, gaze, or even the general line of sight of the other people in the hallway, having to constantly watch all around you to make sure that no one is trying to mess with you, and making the sacrifices needed to survive is no small feat. You're a lucky one if you come home and you don't pass out from exhaustion and stress. Wisest choice would be to stay away.
I love SRMS!! This is my last year sadly. I really love this school it's the best. I will miss you Spring Ridge.
This truely is a great school. This is my first year that I have been here. and personaly i think everything about this school is great. the teachers are kind, and easy to communicate with, its like you have known them all your lives! These teachers also make ur year go by really fast. Personaly i think Ms. La Brac was the best, she well tempured and she helps every student to her best ability. i cant wait to go to 7th grade and do this all over again! i only have one day left of school... this year sadly went by so fast :]
The Principal is great. She really has made a difference in the school. One of my kids graduated and one is still at SRMS. She really loves her teachers, Dr. Robinson is great, Mrs. Beaven is wonderful, and I wanted to be in Mrs. Houseman's class. The staff is helpful and friendly. They are working on increasing their score and it shows.
As a parent, I promote and encourage reading in my home. I am so pleased that my daughter is fortunate to have Ms. Houseman as her 6th grade Language Arts teacher. Ms. Houseman has a great journal assignment that requires the children to write weekly journals on books read that week. They must read a different book each week. What I think is awesome is that Ms. Houseman has the children only read books that she has already read. This will ensure Ms. Houseman that the child is actually reading the book because she is fully aware of the contents of the story. Ms. Houseman also takes the time to write her reviews on each child's journal. I say it's like having a book club in which the books are read and discussed by not only summarizing the story but including the author's purpose. Great job, Ms. Houseman!
spring ridge is a really good school i attended there last year. u dont have 2 worry the teachers are great and the will work with ur kids if theres something they r haven trouble with
This school is undergoing a lot of growing pains as you can tell by reading through the reviews from year to year it is only getting better. I am impressed with the dedication of the teachers and staff at SRMS. With a bit of choice for my childs school I am extremely happy with the level of education provided. There will always be bumps in the road when you put that many student s together but those are individual students whom are taught interpersonal skills by their own parents and home environments. That is where children learn to create intimidating and threatening environments not the other way around. This is a stellar school that I highly recommend and as you can see, it is only going to get better.
Very happy with my 6th grader in this school. Well run, great principal. Great science, technology program. Discipline and safety are not an issue.
My daughter goes here now in the 6th grade and I was very nervous about this school..it is said to be the worst in the county. She has always been homeschooled so it was a big change for her. The teachers are top notch and the discipline is impressive. I will not hesitate to send my other child here when she is old enough.
It's a great school. I went to elementry schools in Florida, compared to there this was the greatest school in the world. They had activities, music, and made learning fun. If I had to go throught middle school again, I would definatly go to SRMS all over again. What ever people say about our school is not true. The teachers care about us,the kids aren't all that bad, and we love the school. I think that if I would have gone to any other school, I wouldn't have made it to where I am today in Reading and Spanish thanks to Mr. Gravelle and Mrs. Daigle. I used to hate science, but after being in Mr. Fletcher's class I love it. So learn about the school before you believe what you read in the newspaper, I love this school and all of the teachers in it and wouldn't have it any-other-way.
I know some people might not think that SRMS is a good school, but i have gone there for 3 years. I can personally say, most of the teachers, Mrs. Daigle, Ms. Maday, Mr. Bailer, Mr. Fletcher, and Ms. Beavan, care a lot about the students! This school just gets kicked around because it wasn't a very good school 3 years ago, but things have changed. Sure we have had some bomb threats, fights, and other problems, but they are all taken seriously. This is a school I personally will remember because it was such fun to go there. I am actually sad to be leaving it next year to go to GMHS. If you look at all the other schools, you will fing that they have just as much problems as we do. Our problems have actually decreased in the past 3 years. This school is a good one truely!
I went there for 3 years and I learned alot! The teachers are great, the students are the ones who are disrespectful, not the teachers! And it's the parents jobs to discipline the students, not the teachers! The students are responsible for their own actions, ot the teachers, the teachers are not babysitters!
I have seen it over and over again! Number one problem. Situation between teachers and parents. The parents more times than not, seems to side with their child and not the teacher when the teacher (an adult) speaks about the child. My daughter attends Spring Ridge. I would never let my daughter pull the wool over my eyes. To think that it is the teacher and not her. Yes, I have had a couple of phone calls from her teacher. I LISTEN to the teacher and then talk to my daughter. We try to figure out what is the right solution to fix the problem. Her teachers has kept me informed of my daughters progress. I don't think that school should be repremanded as a whole. I think each student in each school (no matter which school they attend), should be responsible for their own actions. The school would be better!
