5 star staff awesome school

This school is more interested in passing standardized tests to get funding then they are in educating the children. This school has a number of students that are well below reading level. They teach the children what's on the MESA tests and spend the rest of the time preparing for the tests that will come next time. These children are going to be greatly disadvantaged when they go to middle school.

Georges Creek Elementary is a small town school. My whole family went to this school. The teachers take the time to make sure the children are learning. Parents, teachers and the community are involved in every aspect of the learning system. I don't want my daughter going anywhere else.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Maryland used the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and grades 5 and 8 in science. The MSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maryland. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.
