I am a foster parent who for 13 years has sent my children to Mardela. many of my children have learning or behavioral problems and although small this school has a big heart. From the guidance counselors to the principal they try to understand these children and their needs. Yes they don't have all the sports of Wi-Hi. But in many ways they have much more , most children are know by their names. The school is small and that is what makes it special.I have had 4 graduate and two of those continue to college. One is in the medical field the other is still attending.

I was a student at Mardela High school for my high school years. It is a very nice school from the aspect of faculty/staff and student diversity, but the school is old and funding is very low. There are no football, lacrosse or volleyball teams. The sports they do have Soccer, field hockey, cross country (if there is enough student interest), basketball, wrestling, cheerleading, track and field, baseball and softball. The funding for sciences is pathetic. No trips or experiments to further learning. Just the dissection of a formaldehyde preserved cricket, and some basic chemistry. I feel as a former student I wasn t challenged enough by the curriculum and found that I was ill prepared for college. Sorry for sounding so negative in this review but I fell like the negatives should be known. I loved my years at Mardela Middle and High school and wouldn t have wanted to attend any other school in the area, but would have liked to have seen the things I mentioned improved. For any parents looking at whether or not to send your kids here I would say there is no better school in the area for making friends and enjoying your time in high school.

I'm a student at this said school. I was a little shocked that it only got a 5 rating. We may be a small school and not as big as other schools but we're a very close school. We also get to do a lot more then big city schools, because we are so small you can be involved with band, soccer, baseball, and many academic clubs without the fear that you may be cut just because there's to many people or if your an underclassmen. Also even though we're a middle and high school the two are very seperated but also close enough that you get the previlge of having higher classes in middle school because you've reached high school level.
