My daughter just finished 8th grade at EEJMS...she enjoyed the experience as a student. But as a parent, I must say the administration (namely the principal) Mr. Carter talks a good game in front of parents, but does not show and prove. He gives a good "I care speech" at back to school nights and PTA meetings, but that's it. He is not responsive to parents, does not follow through, and if you are not one of his favorite group of teachers - you can forget it. He is known for bulling his staff and not looking out for the best interests of the students and the faculty. EEJMS will be a much better school WITHOUT Carlton Carter. Other than that my daughter had some wonderful caring teachers during her 2 years at EEJMS...I never had a problem reaching the teachers. It's the school leadership that is the problem - even the students have no respect for the principal and it shows.

I think the Great Schools rating has it right. This school should be a lot better than it is. The teacher's do not care about the progression of the students. I understand that it hard to teach in disruptive classrooms but the administration need to do something about it. Kids are always in the hall during class and are disrespectful to each other and adults. Parents need to be more involved, Teachers and Admin need to be more strict and the kids need to take responsibility for their future. EEJ needs an intervention! Until this happens, find another school for your child.

EEJ was by far the best school my daughter attended in PG County. Now that she is in HS I really miss Just. The Principal & most of the teachers all care and have positive attitude toward learning. Dr. White-Hood was great but when she left Mr. Carter stepped in and did a Great Job. Ms. Dorsey and Mrs. Bumpass were the best. Kudos to you both! My daughter and I both miss Just and would recommend the school to anyone.

Ernest Just Middle School is a well-run public middle school. The administration has a 'hands on' approach in all aspects of student learning. The teacher quality is outstanding. Most teachers have 15+ year of effective teaching. Student discipline problems are handled promptly and fairly.

I know that I am getting the best of the best education here. I also know that all the teachers here are great and that the extra-curricular activities and the learning opportunites keep me so busy that I don't have any time for trouble. EEJ, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
