Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My daughter entered 3rd grade and is new to the school . I am very impressed with the academic curriculum. The teachers and staff are extremely helpful and professional. While I had many other schools to pick, I am very happy with my decision at St. Peter's. My daughter's enthusiasm every morning to go to school is a validation that I made the right choice.

Excellent academic curriculum. The faculty & staff teach and encourage good manners, right conduct and the right moral values that is sorely lacking today. Great sense of community and parent involvement in the school. We have been in this school for 9 years, sending them here was one of the best decisions we ever made!

My children have been at St. Peter's for three years now from preschool to Kindergarten and each year has been fantastic. From the passionate teachers, advanced curriculum, school-wide events, to parent involvement opportunities - I feel blessed that we are part of this educational community. My children are happy each day to go to school and to come home and share their experiences. I have also truly enjoyed the parenting connections I have made as this has been another source of communication that continues to foster my decision to be at St. Peter's.

Solid academic program, strong Catholic values, great leadership, wonderful & caring teachers - that is what makes this a terrific Catholic school. My children have been here since kindergarten, and they truly prepare the children for the challenges of the world. We most truly appreciate the hand written notes and pictures that our principal, Mrs. Whelan send to each family one or twice a year updating us on how the kids are doing in school. The support from the faculty, the priests, the parish, office staff and grounds crew is tremendous - you know your child is in a safe environment at all times. Special mention to Mrs. Proday - who runs a tight ship but is well-loved & respected by all. Truly a Blue Ribbon school!

This is our 9th year at St. Peter's. My daughter will be graduating and my son is in 5th grade. They have both been at St. Peter's since kindergarten. This is a Christ centered school. They are taught values and what it means to walk in our Roman Catholic faith. The principal is outstanding; and the staff and teachers are brilliant, caring and very talented. There is an enormous amount of parent involvement. There is a strong sense of community here. When the children graduate, they are completely prepared for the next phase of their education. They truly deserved the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award. My children and I love this school and are very blessed and very grateful to be part of its community.

Fantastic school. Solid academics, caring teachers, outstanding and visionary principal, many enrichment programs, and a fun and engaging environment. My children's national test scores are very strong and they are reminded always to be polite, mindful, and caring citizens. Wonderful place. Well-deserved blue ribbon award from U.S. Dept. of Education!

St. Peter s is a fabulous school. Our children have been there for 9 years (K thru 8). There are multiple reasons for this high praise. 1. The Principal, Mrs. Whelan. Like all well-run organizations the tone gets set from the top. She runs an efficient, forward-looking team that is not content with the status-quo and yet she always has time for every student and every parent. 2. The teachers. First and foremost they are qualified, but as important they care deeply about their students and create a nurturing environment for learning. 3. The families. The parents care about their children, they are engaged, and they volunteer at the school all the time; these family values are in turn reflected in the types of students at the school. Is St. Peter s perfect? No. But nothing is perfect and when our children graduate this year it will be very hard to say good-bye. Even though we are in Montgomery County, and there are excellent public schools, we could not have made a better choice in selecting a school that provides challenging academics in a nurturing environment where children are happy and are taught to emulate Christ.

I am the parent of 4 children who all attend St. Peter's School currently. We could not be happier with our choice to send them there. The teachers are fantastic, and the principal is superb. They are approachable, enthusiastic and supportive. But the added benefit of this talented school is that my kids are soooooo comfortable in their environment. They would spend all of their free time with their St. Peter's friends too if they could. The families we've become involved with are wonderful friends of ours now and support when we need it!

All four of my boys attend St. Peter's School. As a former MCPS teacher in the Olney area I struggled with the decision of sending my children to parochial school- are the academics going to be challenging enough, are the teachers certified and knowledgeable in their field, is there enough diversity, will the principal be the be a strong leader? The answers to my questions were answered; not only is the curriculum rigorous, the teachers knowledgeable, the students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and the principal an amazing professional and leader but, my children get to experience all of this in a safe, close knit and Christian environment. I am active in school involvement and I'm not alone; St. Peter 's has many parent volunteers that make help make St. Peter's a great place. One of the best things about St. Peter's is that each year the principal, teachers, students and parents work together to make it an even better school. Congratulations to St. Peter's School on being named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence!

Where do I start!!!! We have the best kept secret in all of Montgomery County.. From the top, Mrs. Whelan (best principal in the state), to all of her staff and teachers, we have the brightest and most caring group of professionals that really CARE and will go the extra mile for their students as if they were their own. I have 3 children currently attending St. Peter's and a graduate at GC and all were extremely prepared for the next grade and above. My high schooler is in all honors, AP and IB classes and doing extremely well because of St. Peters strong academic standards. The Blue Ribbon Award just supports our GOLD experience.. Thank you St. Peter's School for everything that you have done for my children!!! ..

We have 3 kids at Saint Peters, preK3 thru 8th grade and we're thrilled! We've just relocated to the area from NC and reviewed various possible options before selecting SP. Beyond the obvious indicators (Blue Ribbon Winner, robust curriculum, terrific MD certified teaching staff, amazing commitment from Pastor / Parish), there's a "personal touch" that we've not yet experience. The first week of school, the Principal made personal phones to each preK parent to let you know how your child is doing. This week, we received a handwritten personal note from the Principal with a picture of my preK son updating me on how he's integrating into the classroom. Each morning, we're greated by friendly student embassador's helping my young kids out of the car, and each afternoon the teachers are outside to share with parents how the day went. The teacher send personal emails and notes, and the staff greet kids and parents with supportive smiles. Saint Peter's has exceeded our expectations. Thank you.

We transferred our 5 and 7 year old to this school and it was the absolute best decision for our children and our family. My 5 year old has had an exceedingly difficult adjustment and the teachers, counselors, principals and learning specialist have worked with us and our child tirelessly and at all times in a nonjudgemental manner. Our 7 year old came in behind in reading and within the first week this was identified and he was working with a reading specialist. The incredible amount of support within the school staff and from other families is overwhelming and could never be repaid. There are tremendous opportunities for extra curricular activities and all families are very involved in the school. The measure of a great school is not only the great academic outcomes for the children, which this school certainly has, but how a school manages children having difficulties and how they bring them up to speed and get them back on track. We are forever grateful to this school and anyone who desires a well structured, highly supportive education for their children should without hesitation bring their children to St. Peter's.

I have sent my two daughters to St. Peters and one is currently in 7th grade. It has been a great experience as a parent and for my child. I plan on sending my third child to St. Peters. My oldest daughter has moved on to Good Counsel and is a honor student and recently was accepted into National Honor Society. I credit the educational foundation she received at St.Peters for her future success.

I have been a parent at St. Peter's for 9 years. It is truly a school that gets better every year! The leadership is outstanding! My oldest child is getting ready to graduate. I feel that St. Peters has prepared her for High School both academically and spiritually. I would highly encourage anybody considering a Catholic education to check out St. Peter's.

I have been at parent at St. Peter's for four years. We have been very pleased with the school for our two boys. We came from an excellent public school in Olney because we wanted our boys to have an opportunity to learn and grow in their religion. We have had no regrets! The principal, teachers and other support staff have been wonderful. Our boys have more of a sense of community than they ever did previously. They live their faith everyday and participate in charity events and holidays they otherwise wouldn't have. We have been very happy academically also. The teachers over the last four years have been excellent. They boys have been challenged and have felt like their teachers care about them. We are blessed to have Mrs. Whelan as our principal. She recognized that St. Peter's could be a Blue Ribbon School and over the past three years she lead the staff, students and parents to make that dream a reality. I would highly recommend St. Peter's School.

As a member of the Olney community since I was 3 years old, I have seen Olney change and grow exponentially over the years. The roads have widened, businesses have come and gone, neighbors have moved in and out, but one thing that has remained a constant is the presence of Saint Peter's Parish and its school. Like a fine wine, the school has improved with age! The Principal is committed and her enthusiasm is contagious. The teachers are dedicated, hardworking and eager to touch the lives of our children. The parents are loving, supportive and willing to volunteer their time, talent and treasure to make Saint Peter's School the best it can be. When people in the community have asked me why I have chosen to send my two children (ages 8 and 12) to Saint Peter's School, I tell them this: What more can a parent ask for than for their children to come home tired from working hard, but smiling because they have had a good day at school.

Our children our learning in a Christ centered school that teaches to all aspects of the child. Parents are involved in the school both in the classrooms and behind the scenes. Saint Peters has been a wonderful school to my children. With four children, we have been part of the school for 16 years. All of my children are now in either high school or college and I am happy to say that they were all well-prepared. Saint Peters did a wonderful job preparing them both academically and spiritually for the future. The school met the needs of all four children. All of the children had different strengths and weaknesses identified these to assist them in doing their best. Saint Peters offers an academically challenging curriculum taught by knowledgable, caring teachers.

I am a parent of one child at this school, and I am profoundly impressed by the commitment of the entire staff of this school, including the principal. I drop off my daughter for school every day, and on most days, the principal herself is greeting the students in the parking lot! I think that says a lot about the principal's view of her role in the school. She is actively engaged and ever-present throughout the school day. My daughter, who transferred in from another school, adores her teachers and loves this school. As far as academics, the school is constantly evaluating itself in an effort to improve and remain competitive relative to the schools in the area. They are well aware that Olney has many high-quality public and private schools - and they strive to be the best among them. Their recent distinction as a National Blue Ribbon School signifies their commitment to and achievement of academic excellence.

St. Peter's is an excellent school beacuse it prepares the student for academic success in high school and beyond in an environment that consistently promotes Catholic values and affords the student an opportunity to practice their faith on a daily basis. The community at St. Peter's is very special and unique. The parents really are involved with the school and are given the opportunity to contribute their ideas and time to the school. Under the direction of the principal at St. Peter's, the community has started working on a 5 year strategic plan to ensure that the school continures to improve the development of the whole child. St. Peter's just received the Blue RIbbon Award this fall and it is a sign of what we are all about!

Our children have attended St. Peter's School since Kindergarten with our oldest now in 8th grade. The teachers have been consistently excellent in each grade, and they genuinely care about the students. This year St. Peter's has been designated by the U.S. Dept of Education as a NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON school. The only one in the Olney area. Our principal deserves great credit for this achievement.

We have been at St. Peter's with our three children for the past 8 years and will be here for the next 7 and couldn't be happier. The children are receiving a great education and they have wonderful friends. Most importantly, they are encouraged to discuss and live their Catholic faith. St. Peter's school has been so blessed to have Mrs. Whelan as our principal. She is a positive role model for students and parents alike. She is fair and firm and a phenomenal principal and person.

I love our principal! She is the hardest working, most professinal and positive woman I know. Our school is in excellent hands with her in charge. Eventually I will have three sons graduate from Saint Peters. Each will have received a top-of-the-line education for a reasonable price. Our experiences at Saint Peters are well worth the money. It's a great value and a great school community.

We are new to the area and feel so blessed to have found St. Peter's School and Parish. Our 5 year old son is getting the best academic and Christ-based education we could have hoped for, and he runs down the stairs to go to school each morning! The teachers are outstanding and address the needs of each individual child. I can't thank them enough for the patience and love they have showed our son. Principal Mary E. Whalen is also extraordinary and we have been so impressed by her leadership and involvement. We have made the most wonderful friends at school, and have enjoyed the really fun family events. St. Peter's truly is a family and has provided us with such tremendous support. We 100% recommend this school to anyone. Last but not least - we just won the 2012 Blue Ribbon of Excellence award!! Only 50 schools in the nation receive this highest honor each year. YIPPPEEE!!

Our principal truly cares about the success of the school and every child at St. Peter's. She understands that each child is an individual and challenges her teachers to teach to the child. We have 3 children attending school from PreK3, K and 2nd grade. Each have teachers who challenge the kids academically in a positive and warm environment. When you enter the school the faculty and staff are friendly and inviting. If you are looking for a school with a strong commitment to academics, strong commitment to Catholic values and very warm and friendly families I strongly recommend looking at St. Peter's School.

We have two children enrolled at St. Peter's Catholic School in the 5th and 8th grades, and both are in their 5th year at the school. Our children love attending St. Peter's for so many reasons. They not only enjoy learning from their terrific teachers and para-educators, they appreciate the respect and demeanor of the other students and school administrators. As parents, we could not be happier with St. Peter's School! Our children are receiving an excellent parochial education from an exceptional institution, which has an extremely dedicated Principal and faculty, comprised of the very best, significantly credentialed educators and awesome support staff. There are also so many activities available too. Being named a 2012 "National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence" positions St. Peter's School as one of only two (public or private) schools in Montgomery County and one of only 10 (public or private) schools in the entire State of Maryland to achieve this extremely high honor this year. Lastly, at current tuition rates, your children can also attend this National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence at - less than half the cost - of several surrounding parochial schools.

Not only is Saint Peter's School the only school in Olney to recieve the 2012 National Blue Ribbon of Excellence award, but it is also the best value in high-quality parochial education in all of Montgomery County. We are truly blessed to have our two boys as students. The personal attention, the small class room sizes, the variety of programs offered and the overall quality of the staff is without peer. Highly recommended.

I am a previous employee of St. Peter School. I know from experience in working with the faculty and staff for many years and through many changes what a fine school it is. Few parents may know how much the teachers truly care about their students. And, it all begins at the top. The leadership is to be commended for maintaining a truly Catholic school in the midst of all the social pressures to be otherwise. Blessings on the entire school community.

My two children graduated from Saint Peter's School. There is such a wonderful sense of community. My children experienced a faith filled education with a rigorous curriculum. They have since gone on to Georgetown Prep and the Academy of the Holy Cross and felt well prepared thanks to their St. Peter's education.
