This school has a serious bullying issue. Our son, who has been in some of the roughest schools in PG county with no issues, has had serious bullying issues here. The administration responds with minimal intervention and the bullying continues. Terribly disappointed... to the point that we will be moving.
Don't chose this school they don't do anything about bullying and my son got beaten up by 2 kids and about 4 other kids laughed at him and all 6 kids said they did not do anything so they believed that.
Jacobsville is a GREAT school. My son had Mrs. Stocks for kindergarten. She is what all teachers should be. She is really the best in the school. He is what he is today because of her and what she has taught him. NONE of the other kindergarten teaches even come close to her, I have heard many stories about the redheaded kindergarten teacher and THANK GOD he didn't have her. Lord I would have had to tranfer he out of the school. Thank you Mrs. Stocks you are a wonderful blessng to the children!!!
There are some outstanding teachers, but some are simply collecting a paycheck. The principal does NOTHING other than give lip service to an increasing bullying problem- had a friend's son get his glasses broken and was injured, and the principal declared it an "accident", even though the child who "accidentally" did this had a history of picking on the victim. The principal is quite difficult to communicate with, both for those children whom she does not like, as well as for parents who are trying to resolve issues- very aribtrary, and any rebuttals by parents are met with stiff resistance, instead of any attempt at open and honest dialogue. We are sending our child to another school, out of disgust at the poor "leadership", and would recommend other parents get transfers out, too- that is, unless you want to deal with this kind of garbage.
My daughter is currently a First Grade Student at Jacobsville! Both her teacher this year and last year are fantastic. Mrs. Herring, Pricipal, is awesome. I am looking forward to many more years at Jacobsville!
Excllent principal; caring teachers; top notch education at this school!
My son transferred into 3rd grade at Jacobsville this year from another area school and I must say this is his best year ever. He has ADD, so the single classroom setting vs. quads has been a blessing. I can tell he is happier and his grades have improved dramatically. It truly is a wonderful school and the teachers really are great. It's a shame he'll be transferring out again this summer as we are a military family and now headed out to the west coast. It has been a great year so far and I'm excited to see how the rest goes. It really is a blessing when your kid goes from hating school to almost loving it. I give the teachers credit for that. Thank you.
3 of my children attending this school. Overall the school is very nice. The other teachers my children had seemed to be very nice.
My daughter is in Kindergarten class and I must say Jacobsville Elementary is a great school. Her teacher (Ms. Buck) is phenomenal. The activities, school projects and homework assignments have given my child an opportunity to express herself as well as preparation for 1st grade. Many other parents who I have spoken with having children in 1st and 2nd grade have expressed their likings to Jacobsville's teachers and staff members. Keep up the good work.
My son is a K-5 student at Jacobsville and I am so impressed with the education he has rec'd so far. In addition to what is learned in the classroom, we do approx. an hour of home assignments each night. Mrs. Custer (teacher) has not only made learning fun for him but has taught him to communicate effectively and really understand the meaning of self respect as well as the respect for others. I wasn't sure what to expect on 'Back to School Night' but was quite pleased to see a line of parents and students wrapping around the school just to get in. When I finally made it through the crowds to sign up for volunteer work, almost every activity was full of parents that wanted to be involved. The school itself is very clean and orderly. Great School - Teachers really care!
2 out of my 4 kids have attended this school and I think it is a really great school teachers are concered about there students.
