I completely agree with the comment in November. The person who commented in January must be going to a different school! The office staff doesn't even look up when a parent walks in, the principal is not friendly and allows her teachers to show movies to the kids, a lot. This principal does not go out of her way to ensure every child gets a great education. I know many parents that have been so unhappy that they have moved their children to private schools. I think there are good teachers at this school but there are some not so good teachers. My biggest complaint is basically the principal and the office staff. I do agree that the PTA is wonderful at Jacksonville.

I just checked in on this website to see how our school was fairing. I was totally shocked with the previous comment. Anyone who has been at this school with any regularity can see the level of commitment exhibited by this principal and staff. The principal meets goal's attributed to a good (I should say excellent) principal on a daily basis. She puts forward all her energies to ensure that each and every child is given the best educational opportunity. She deals with every situation and every person with warmth, humor and expertise. No school is perfect but this school is striving to be the best it can be and is succeeding in most areas under excellent administrative leadership. I must also say that the PTA support is outstanding. All in all this is a wonderful school!

Weak principal leadership on display regularly, ranging from the office staff to the lack of quality and consistent education within the same grade levels. Special area teachers (e.g. art, music) are excellent, and some grade-level teachers are great. The job is to make sure all are as great as they can be, and that is simply not happening. Seems that principal leadership is just mailing it in - a sentiment shared by quite a few parents. Shame, as this school has enough parent and community support to be great.

School is way behind in technology; teachers are not encouraged to use it as an effective means of communication and kids do the bare minimum in the lab and none in the classroom. No smartboards or integration into the classroom. More could be done. It's a good school but not a great school.

High quality academic programs and kids have access to a variety of after school activities. Parents are encouraged to very involved.

My child chose going to school over a trip to disney world...I think that alone, speaks volumes for Jacksonville. She's in kindergarten and is already reading short books, counts past 100, adds and subtracts simple numbers and loves her teacher.
